Why did Bolivia call at 5am?

NannaNoodleman · 29/04/2019 07:44

My phone is on Do Not Disturb until my alarm at 6:30am. Had a missed call notification from a Bolivian number. Seems a bit long distance for a scam and a bit early for a cold caller.

So, why would Bolivia try to call at 5am?

Well when in Acapulco.....

bettyskitchen · 29/04/2019 09:09

They called me too! So odd

RabbitseatDogs · 29/04/2019 09:12

Was it Paddington bear? Maybe he's been kidnapped!!! You must ring back.

Jebuschristchocolatebar · 29/04/2019 09:31

Paddington is from Peru, maybe he had a heavy night and ended up on a bus to Bolivia and woke up in a dodgy hotel room and needs help

brizzlemint · 29/04/2019 09:34

He's probably distraught because they have no marmalade on the breakfast trolley.

RabbitseatDogs · 29/04/2019 09:41

Bolivia's next door to Peru though (I think?). My Curry might have him and if you don't ring back Mr Brown might kill him so that the horrible museum woman can have him as an exhibit.
He'll be asking for ransom money - we could club together. Are you actually Mrs Brown?

I had a missed call from Bolivia this afternoon too

NannaNoodleman · 29/04/2019 16:06

Bolivia's been busy with the phone book today!

Me too at 6.30! From number +59171137129? It went me in a panic as DP is away on a stag do, and I didn't see Bolivia at first, just a random overseas number. Immediately thought he was in hospital.

Basecamp65 · 29/04/2019 16:57

I imagine toddlers in Bolivia play with phones just as much as they do in the UK - may well have been simply that.

Basecamp65 · 29/04/2019 16:58

Oh now I have seen a number of people have had missed calls from Bolivia it is probably a scam!!!

Softsoftsoft · 29/04/2019 17:03

DH had a call from Bolivia at 4.30am!
Sadly he forgot to silence his phone so we were all awakeHmm

NannaNoodleman · 29/04/2019 17:09

‭+591 (7) 113-7124‬

Very similar number so it sounds like the same scam.

How have they got our numbers? I keep my number private.

Now, a stag do that accidentally ends up in Bolivia would make a fairly mediocre but entertaining movie. Full of stereotypes and hilarious Spanish accents.

OMG! My beloved son (23) is at the moment backpacking in South America and is currently in Bolivia (genuinely) - heading towards the Peruvian border and Paddington Bear country. I can't believe he's rang all you guys when I've only had 1 phone call in 2 months! Shocking!
I understand Bolivia is 6 hours behind us, so obviously they are calling late night Bolivian time.

Gth1234 · 29/04/2019 17:42

It's a spoof call saying there's something wrong with your internet. They "fake" the numbers

SrSteveOskowski · 29/04/2019 17:50

I've had Poland, Switzerland, Tanzania and Sierra Leone in recent times.
I'll be expecting Bolivia shortly so.

TheFastandCurious · 29/04/2019 17:51

Call the number back and ask them what they wanted?

That’s a good idea Wink

suziQ10 · 29/04/2019 17:54

I had this call last night too! Or early hours. Woke me up.
Number was ‭+591 (7) 113-4137‬

RabbitseatDogs · 30/04/2019 00:13

I'm quite disappointed that I haven't had a call from Bolivia. I feel a bit left out.

I still think it's Paddington and as no one else seems too worried I'm going to go over there, he might be in perilous danger.

It will also give me an opportunity to wear my duffle coat. Wish me buen viaje.

HeronLanyon · 30/04/2019 00:19

I Seem to be waiting up for my call - could do with an unexpected inheritance/magical beauty treatments/surefire online security etc

HeronLanyon · 30/04/2019 00:20

Don’t forget your hat rabbit

AlexaAmbidextra · 30/04/2019 03:30

I had Monaco yesterday. Prince Albert I expect. 😂

Nat6999 · 30/04/2019 03:47

I get loads of these for a few days, then none for ages, then they start again. I always block & report them as scam or fraud calls, it's the only way that the phone companies get the chance to do anything about them.
