To think we can go to Center Parcs with a 3 week old?

So I booked to go to Center Parcs for the first weekend of December for the Christmas season. We’ve been every year since DS was born (4) so it’s become a bit of a tradition and I love it! However after 3 years of ivf and baby loss I am now 11 weeks pregnant and due in mid November. Do you think it would still be enjoyable to go with a 3 week old or just way too much stress? I’m not sure if I might be more relaxed this time round (but probably not 🙈) but thought maybe I could skip the pool and just go for walks and breastfeed in the villa/cafes whilst dh and ds go swimming?! Anyway would love your views before I decide to cancel or not! X

I wouldn't risk it.

Purely because of the amount of threads on here that I've read about people whose kids have had chickenpox/hand foot and mouth/d & v but have taken them anyway as it cost them so much and why shouldn't they.....

I wouldn't chance it until at least 8 weeks and they've had one set of vaccinations.

I agree with pp to changing the dates.

Hello1290 · 28/04/2019 16:40

I would. It's no different to being at home even if you stay inside the lodge with baby most of the time I think it would be nice family time together. As long as your DH will he hands on, entertain your DS and plan mealtimes too!

I love centerparcs we used to go a lot when DC was younger.

redbedheadd · 28/04/2019 17:07

I would do it a little later so you can enjoy it more. I had a c section and whilst I could walk around I couldn't walk really far and I was still bleeding... would be nicer to wait till you can do more activities with your little one.

givemesteel · 28/04/2019 18:45

I think it depends on how much you'd lose if you changed the dates. If it's not possible to change without significant loss then I'd probably go. But if you can change it to a few weeks later then I would, it's still a winter CP trip so it's not breaking the tradition!

I just think closer to the time you'll be stressing about the hol and the trip as well as the birth which you don't need.

I went with DD 2 weeks old after planned c-section. (Admittedly booked last minute post birth as a break for older DC.) Was lovely. I was mostly in cabin with baby, which I didn't mind as it was mostly a holiday for older DC.

birdling · 28/04/2019 21:47

I'd be wary, simply because your baby could be overdue by 2 weeks, and then induction could potentially take several days. Your baby could be just days old, even still in hospital if there are any issues with you or baby.
Why not go just before Christmas?

stucknoue · 28/04/2019 21:55

We went camping when dd2 was 6 weeks old, 3 weeks in a lodge is easy!

hammeringinmyhead · 28/04/2019 22:00

I wouldn't, as I was up every 90 minutes feeding at that time and would rather do that in my own bed.

chippingalong · 28/04/2019 22:00

It will be lovely. Go for it! Enjoy your newborn x

Differentcorner · 28/04/2019 22:16

I wouldn’t, too many germs! Literally everyone I know who’s been there has been ill afterwards one time or another

Bluewall · 28/04/2019 22:29

For me the thought of having to pack for the trip espically all the stuff you need for a newborn and then unpack wash etc when we got back all with a tiny baby would put me off. I also had real trouble breastfeeding especially my 2nd and 3rd who had tounge ties so I was in a lot of pain, expressing attending Breast feeding clinics etc We also disnt get discharge from midwives until 3 weeks wirh my 3rd

If you went over due you may not even be discharged from midwives.

It will be busy enough with the run up to Christmas and a new baby without going away as well. I have a November baby and doing Christmas shopping, decorations and other Christmas activities made for a very busy time !

rainbowunicorn · 28/04/2019 22:37

I would go it will be no different from being at home. It will also give you time as a family away from loads of friends and relatives popping in to see you.
Babies are very portable at that age and you can pretty much adapt to anything as they are not in a regular routine so just fit in around what you are doing. You should go for it and enjoy

mellicauli · 28/04/2019 23:01

I would wait til after 8 week immunisations. Lots of kids at CP= lots of germs. Sick baby away from home = nightmare

badg3r · 28/04/2019 23:08

We went with a young baby (older than three weeks though) and I sat at the pool cafe with the baby while the others went in the water. When the baby vomited all over our bed at around 10pm, they sent someone out with clean sheets!! It depends partly on when the baby arrives and also on your mentality towards the holiday. If you don't mind packing and traveling with a newborn and missing out on some of the activities I don't see the problem. It didn't bother me (I have low expectations about how restful family holidays can be 😉) and we had a great time. But if those things would bother you then postponing til the baby is at least old enough to use the pool could be nice (I wouldn't personally take them in till eight week immunisations).
