I half joke with folk that i was cursed by my Gran who told me "life comes too easy to you, anyway" after I failed my driving test for the 1st time. I passed on my 3rd attempt. She said things always seemed to go right for me and it was about time I found something hard. Fyi - life didn't come easy to me anyway, it was just the same as everyone else.

I do feel at times like I'm wading through treacle. When I'm feeling overwhelmed (boiler breakdown, leaky bathroom, expensive car problems all at the same time) or saddened by things not happening easily (taking 18 months to conceive each child) then I tend to brood over what she said and if it cursed me.

When I'm feeling brighter and less burdened by life or when things haven't gone wrong I don't give it a second thought.

Well.

I mean, its a bit of a joke but my family have this in joke that we shut places down. We'll visit a shop or cafe twice, three times, recommend it and then...it closes. This has happened dozens of times now.

P'raps we (and the people we recommend said shops etc to) stink?

I dream about my DF once every 10 years or so. I see him but he usually can’t speak. I think because he died when I was so young that I now cant remember his voice.

RubyWho · 29/04/2019 13:30

And on a more sad note, most of the women in my family have had late (2 or 3 trimester) pregnancy losses and every time it was with a baby boy, due in June or July. All other pregnancies which were female babies, due whenever, did not result in tragedy.

This has happened to my DGM, DM, and my DSIS.

There is obviously a non woo reason behind it.

@BethanyGilbert

My sister was cursed by someone claiming to be a witch. I never believe in this sort of thing but my sister, despite being a total sweetheart who should have excellent karma, has had the most extraordinary run of bad luck ever since (must be 6/7 years)

What did she do to get cursed by a witch? Has she considered seeing if she can find another witch / spiritualist who might lift the curse? Even if it's only a placebo effect.

MooBaaLaLaLa · 29/04/2019 13:47

We have a demon who sucks the fun out of everything and freaks everyone out with sudden unwelcome appearances.

... oh no wait, that's the MIL.

ASundayWellSpent · 29/04/2019 13:50

Yes we have /do / see... what is it that you were wanting to know? Not sure the point of the thread?

CanoeDoYouThinkYouAre · 29/04/2019 13:53

Every wedding that DH and I have attended has resulted in the couple divorcing within five years- except our own obviously!

11 weddings in the last 15 years. All marriages now kaput. Shortest was three months.

To be fair, could be more about current divorce rates rather than us being cursed....

Beachbodynowayready · 29/04/2019 13:57

Pretty much accepted that we have a ghost in our lives. He has followed me for nearly 30 years! Not just me who has seen him. Never told my teens but they came to me with concerns about what they had seen and heard! Takes a confident teen ds to tell you he has seen a ghost and not fear being laughed at imo.
Many incidents, still scares me sometimes though!!

Longdistance · 29/04/2019 13:57

My dead uncle appears in my dreams now and then. He never left a will, and the shit storm he left behind with family was shocking. He’d probably laugh now 🤷🏼‍♀️

Whatafustercluck · 29/04/2019 14:02

No, but my dad has informally earned the nickname of the Grim Reaper because many of his customers have ended up dying. He's not a serial killer, all have been put down to natural causes or bad luck. He's beginning to get a bit of a complex about it though 😁

Flyingfish2019 · 08/05/2019 23:08

I love that nickname.

Nameisthegame · 09/05/2019 01:01

Not really woo, 3 generations of woman with shite fathers for their kids, mum did it twice 😩. Hoping it’s only going to happen once for me.

PropagandaMachine · 09/05/2019 07:51

I read the title to this thread and had to check that I hadn’t magically time travelled back to the 16th century.

A family curse! 🤣 👻 🤔
