To be scared about having ear lobe correction surgery?

Okay so in my mid teens I was what some people would class as a 'hippie' Hmm during this time I started stretching my ears, which I stopped doing late teens but I stretched them to 22mm.
I've had them out for years now but due to the size I went and how quickly I did so they are still around 8mm. Anyway I have booked and paid for a private consultation start of next month to talk about getting surgry on my ear lobe which will make them 'normal' again.

But I've just watched videos on YouTube about it and now I'm rather scared and undecided about what to do Confused

I guess what I want to know is does anyone know someone that has had the ear lobe correction surgry done?

Help me be brave and just go for it, give me words of encouragement Grin

If you message the MN Team they can put ear lobe correction surgery in the thread title. Might get you more relevant responses.

Didn't even think of that! How do I msg them?Blush

Not had the surgery but don't watch any more YouTube videos on it!
You'll be asleep (anaesthetised) during the surgery and probably won't need pain relief afterwards.

I'm having replacement knee surgery next month and I certainly won't be watching any videos of similar surgeries😄

The place I'm going to won't be putting me to sleepShock

Oh god, are you nervous?! I'm definitely going to stop watching videos, the thought of it has actually made me feel slightly sick nowBlush

I saw a woman having it done on a TV show. Of course the videos look gruesome but you won’t actually be able to see what’s going on. The local anaesthetic will sting for a very short time then all you will feel is a bit of movement- no pain- stop watching the videos. The woman on the tv show was absolutely thrilled with the results and was very glad to have it done.

Did it take long for her?
I'm definitely not going to watch anymore videos!

It's totally numbed OP and you wont feel or see anything at all. My ex had his done before his wedding. They look ok healed up and barely noticable.

Cheby · 27/04/2019 13:21

Have you got any other piercings? I’d strongly suspect that a tongue/mouth piercing or an ear cartilage piercing would hurt more than this. They give you local anaesthetic, which does sting, but isn’t that hot burning pain like when you get pierced. And within seconds it will be numb, like they do at the dentist. The actual surgery takes a couple of minutes. If you’re only 8mm at the moment they will barely have to remove any tissue, they’ll pop a couple of stitches in and it’ll be done. The local will last for a while so you won’t feel anything, and afterwards some OTC painkillers will help. But while I haven’t had it done (I stopped at 10 with mine and they have shrunk back down to nothing), it’s such a small thing, I really can’t see it being more painful than normal piercing or tattoo recovery.

Good luck OP!

I do have my tongue pierced yes, so it's good to know that it shouldn't hurt more than that at least! I am scared stiff of needles though which is probably why the more I think about it / watch it the more scared I become!

Did your ex have both ears done?

Ah I'd love to have my lobes sewn up, it seems so expensive though.

Do you mind me asking goes much you're paying roughly? Everywhere I look it's £1000+ Shock

QueenBeex · 27/04/2019 15:13

I find out the amount I'd have to pay after they see them in the consultation at the start of May.

The person I spoke to when I went and paid for the first meeting in advance told me they normally go on how much lobe skin it is they have to remove. They gave me a rough price of around £400 per ear when i told them what size theyve naturally gone down to over the years of leaving the flesh tunnels out but that's not been confirmed yet until I actually go to my app. But I believe you can set up a payment plan.

However some other places I looked at cost alot more, do you mind me asking where you are roughly? The place I'm going to has extremely good reviews I'll check the email I received as they have clinics in 3 different places if I remember correctly.

My bad, I meant to put £300 not £400
