Do you enjoy lazy days?

I’m secretly incredibly lazy and could easily spend a week just lying horizontally and watching TV and reading books. I only ever get to do this once in a blue moon as my partner, friends and family are all the sort of people who love to be constantly on the go and fill their spare time with outings and hobbies etc (which I usually get roped into).
I’m just curious if there are more people like me who love to do nothing in their spare time. I feel like some people might not admit to it as they don’t won’t to sound boring.
I’m not depressed and have a fulfilling job etc but I always look forward to the occasional day where I get to do sweet sod all on my own (and wish it could happen far more regularly)

Yes enjoy x

murasaki · 26/04/2019 14:53

Oh yes, me too. And eat all the lunches that he doesn't like ! 4 days of bliss this week as he was back to work on Tuesday and I'm not until Monday.

To be fair, I've done laundry, a bit of cleaning and gone to the supermarket a couple of times, and done the dinners, but other than that it's been bad telly, books and afternoon naps with the cats. Happy days.

AmethystRaven · 26/04/2019 14:53

I think lazy days are good, they give a bit of breathing space. Lots of us rush round most of the time so a day of recharging and doing nothing can feel really restoring. I would get bored with loads of lazy time, but I could really do with a day with lots of tea and a good book every now and then.

Aquamarine1029 · 26/04/2019 14:55

Very rarely. Unless I'm very ill, I just can't sit on my arse all day. It doesn't make me feel good.

ClaireUnderwoodforPresident · 26/04/2019 14:55

Yes, me! I love to lie around. On holidays I'm known to complain about the effort of getting ready for dinner. Grin
I can be incredibly active when I need to be - work, gym etc.. but my secret preferred position is lying down with a book in hand and snacks close by.

Duchessgummybuns · 26/04/2019 14:55

Once in a while I like to spend a day vegging but I couldn’t do it for a whole weekend for example

Beebee8 · 26/04/2019 14:57

Nothing beats an afternoon nap with a cat!

SparrowBo · 26/04/2019 14:59

Yes. Love it. Dh is irritatingly productive.

Didiusfalco · 26/04/2019 15:00

If I could have a bath, read, watch box sets and relax, yes, that would be great. However I am trying to have a lazy day with my kids and that is going really badly and is pretty much the opposite of relaxing.

JacquesHammer · 26/04/2019 15:00

Yes but for me it’s with a book. I can easily read 9/10 books on a lazy weekend Smile

I actually think it’s really important to allow yourself to do “nothing” once in a while!

LBOCS2 · 26/04/2019 15:02

Oh yes. In fact, it's my birthday next weekend and I've just booked my youngest in for an extra day with her childminder during school hours so I can do exactly that. We'll be on the go all weekend doing Birthday things as a family but actually I just want some time to myself to read my book and drink coffee - and I'm making it happen, dammit! DH keeps asking me what I'm going to DO all day and my answer of 'not much' is apparently very vague - except it's the truth!

confusedandemployed · 26/04/2019 15:04

I'm usually on the go all the time, but an impromptu day of nothing is always welcome. I'd still go to the gym first thing though 🤷‍♀️

Hiddenaspie1973 · 26/04/2019 15:05

Love them.
My day off today, I've dyed my roots, cleaned bathrooms, hoovered and should be chopping stuff for stew.
But I've been watching David Attenborough tacc then episodes 1-3 of Bosch on Amazon.
Quite sad it'll be over in 30 mins.

LittleElle · 26/04/2019 15:05

Yes until about 3pm. Then I NEED to go and do something productive. Anything at all

ILiveInSalemsLot · 26/04/2019 15:06

I can only enjoy lazy afternoons. I feel I have to ‘earn’ them by being busy in the morning.
I would enjoy a whole day every now and then.

KOBr · 26/04/2019 15:06

It's not laziness, it's de-stressing, giving your mind time and space to re-energise. Others like to fill their time "doing" for the same reason.

I'm with you OP.

fullprice · 26/04/2019 15:07

I am on the go on the time. Days where I can stay in my Pjs, and veg are sheer bliss. I could easily lie in bed all day.

SimonJT · 26/04/2019 15:08

If I’m on my own, no I hate them, if I’m with someone else I enjoy a lazy day.

Arrowfanatic · 26/04/2019 15:39

I'm on the go a lot, 3 kids, work evenings as a martial arts instructor, shift working husband, i go to the gym & do all the housework & general mental load of the family.

But every few weeks when the kids are at school & my husband is at work I'll purposefully do nothing. I just need it.

My husband once took the kids away for 3 days & my butt only moved off the sofa to eat & use the loo. Was blissful.

My husband is the opposite, he gets cabin fever.

Ellabella989 · 26/04/2019 15:41

I’ve always fantasied about winning the lottery and immediately booking myself into a 5 star hotel. I’d order room service and just lounge in bed for a week. Maybe have the occasional massage thrown in too

I like the idea of them but I prefer having a plan for lazy days e.g. I'll put on a face mask and watch this movie before making this for dinner - which I suppose sort of defeats the object.

Agree with previous poster, I like one day of laziness but after two days I'm quite looking forward to going back to work!

BlueMerchant · 26/04/2019 15:56

Love a morning or afternoon lazing but not all day. I start getting restless and end up with cabin fever and feel on-edge and very anxious.

YesQueen · 26/04/2019 15:58

Oh yes. 8 week recovery from spinal surgery was pretty decent Grin I did get a bit bored towards the end
I try and have one day a week where I don't leave the house, I potter around and tidy etc. It helps my mental health a lot

RomanyQueen1 · 26/04/2019 15:59

Lazy days are great, or at least going slowly with your daily tasks and saving on stress.
I like reading and studying, working on new projects, so am never doing nothing, but these are part of my hobbies and interests so not exactly work.
I could spend all day doing very little though and don't woh

Blackandpurple · 26/04/2019 16:00

No, i feel like ive wasted a day. I do sit and watch tv if there is something on, but i cant sit there looking for something to watch. If its a reallt miserable stormy day ill sit at home, watch a film, play Cluedo or monopoly, or bake a cake or clear a cupboard.

But I’m known for going out for a walk or run in all weathers as i find doing nothing bores me.
