Does anyone else have this horrible feeling that they wish they could go back to how things were.
I feel so nostalgic today.
Remembering the 90s
I was 12/13 and my mum was still alive.
Watching top of the pops.
Saturdays getting up and watching smtv/cduk
Nights were Noel's House party /blind date and gladiators.
Old music I loved,b*witched, backstreet boys etc
I miss those days of no worries.
I would go back in a heartbeat
Anyone else ever have moments like this
Feel a bit weepy thinking it's gone and won't ever come back.

I miss the 90s too. I was at university then. Life was so much brighter!

WithAllIntenseAndPurposes · 26/04/2019 16:16

Frequently
I hate being old

Babooshkar · 26/04/2019 16:17

Totally, I miss the days of little to no responsibilities Flowers

BogglesGoggles · 26/04/2019 16:18

Well I definitely miss having the body (and the sleeping habits!) of a teenager.

AnnieMay100 · 26/04/2019 16:19

I feel the same I miss the old days when life was simple and enjoyable! The 90s was a fab time to be young I get emotional now and again from memories of it myself. You’re making new memories now that one day you’ll look back on and wish you could relive too so make sure you enjoy the present time x

Bambamrubblesmum · 26/04/2019 16:24

I've rediscovered my old dance mix CDs and now my car is a 90s time bubble on wheels Grin totally understand where you are coming from.

FiveStoryFire · 26/04/2019 16:25

Loved the 90s. It was a great era.

girlwithadragontattoo · 26/04/2019 16:26

SMTV Grin I always wish i could go back. I'd do things so differently and enjoy myself more

VioletCharlotte · 26/04/2019 16:28

I miss the 90's too. I saw an article earlier about Blur's 'Parklife' album being 25 years old this week, it made me want to cry.

I'd give anything for it to be 1993 and be 17 again.

Hiddenaspie1973 · 26/04/2019 16:31

Oh yes. I miss life in the 80s though.
I guess I'm not that good at being an adult!

loveonthewall · 26/04/2019 16:32

The only days I miss were 6th form, around 89/90. I fitted in during those days, never really felt I did before or have since and I'm late 40's now. Plus they were safe but exciting times. It's made me quite sad to realise that

Partridgeamongstthepigeons · 26/04/2019 16:34

Loveonthewall could not agree more! Soul II Soul etc going to clubs- being a 6th former in 1990 was funSmile

OutInTheCountry · 26/04/2019 16:41

Me too, I was at 6th form and uni in the 90s, I like a good nostalgic wallow every so often but I have to consciously try not to stay there too long. It reminds me of that Black Mirror episode, I’d be very happy to go back to that time sat in my old folks home with a Virtual reality headset on.

loveonthewall · 26/04/2019 16:48

I think that's why San Junipero resonated with me so much, Out. Simple lives that become complicated. And I agree re not wallowing for too long Thanks

Mummyshark2018 · 26/04/2019 17:10

I miss the 90's and am going to see the spice girls in concert in June for purely nostalgic reasons (not because I was a big fan!)

Passtherioja · 26/04/2019 17:13

Although I loved the 90s too I think this is less about the music and TV (you can revisit that anytime you like) and more about missing your mum.

I lost my big brother at the beginning of the 90s when I was 17 and some days I'll be happily going about my business and something will sideswipe me (usually a song from that era) I also wish I could go back to those carefree days and be with him just one more time but we have a different life to live.

I think how you're feeling is perfectly normal so embrace it, shed some tears and if it helps jump around the house to a 90s CD ... but you're just having a moment where you miss your mum and the comfort you associate her with xx

Eminybob · 26/04/2019 17:13

Sometimes it seems like yesterday, I remember so much of the 90’s vividly (which is quite surprising considering). I was born in 1980 so my whole teenage was during the 90’s.
Loved it. Endless summers, underage clubbing, platform “spicegirl” trainers, amazing music and fantastic friends.

lookingelsewhere · 26/04/2019 17:16

Me too, although it was the 80s for me. Life hasn't gone the way I'd planned, that's for sure.

ALongHardWinter · 26/04/2019 17:19

I miss the 80s. Great time for music.

Milicentbystander72 · 26/04/2019 17:21

I was a teen in the 80's and a young adult in the 90's.
Best times ever. I was carefree, energetic, ambitious, optimistic, fairly poor and just really generally happy.

However I'm sure most older people feel that way about 'their' decades. My dad swore blind that there was no better era than the 50's.

toyouibelong · 26/04/2019 17:25

@Mummyshark2018 I'm going to see the spice girls too and backstreet boys ha ha

Omg the 90s were just perfect. I wish I was a bit older during them actually (born ‘89), I wish I sort of ‘came of age’ in that era. Can’t remember anything from the 2000s that was as comforting and warm and happy and fun as the 90s things you mentioned. In the 2000s it got all pop idol/big brother-y.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 26/04/2019 17:32

I am glad I do have all those memories of the 90s though of course!! Gladiators and blur mind date just make me want to cry with nostalgia. Definitely going to have a 90s themed 40th 😄

SoftBlocks · 26/04/2019 17:35

The 90s were great.
