To think you can't always control where you're sick?

Ok so this is another where it's my DH vs me.

The other day I was sick and grabbed an empty water bottle which I threw up in and then put the whole thing in the rubbish bin.

My husband today takes the bottle out of the rubbish bin, rinses it out and puts it in the recycling. He makes all sorts of comments that upset me, "Eww what was that??"

I proceed to call him weird and say I threw it in the rubbish because I was sick. He says that I shouldn't have thrown up in a water bottle. I say you can't control it sometimes and it was better to be in a water bottle than on the floor. He has annoyed me to no end with this, recycling is important but if I have been sick then just leave that 1 water bottle in the rubbish.

AIBU to think you can't control where your sick sometimes and if you have a water bottle full of sick, it's ok to throw it in with the rubbish?

Your husband is a fucking loon! HTH

goodwinter · 26/04/2019 10:56

I agree with you. I've tried to run to the bathroom while being sick, ended up spewing into my hands and having it all run through my fingers... Much, much worse than being contained in a water bottle!

goodwinter · 26/04/2019 10:57

Oh and good god, why would he rinse and recycle that?! One bottle in the bin is ok surely, under these circumstances...

Biancadelrioisback · 26/04/2019 10:59

How did you get it in a water bottle?! Mine explodes out my face (mouth and nose...possibly ears) and sprays in every direction, covering everything in its path.... You must be sick very gently!

Seeline · 26/04/2019 10:59

I'm impressed you managed to vom in a water bottle!!

But no, generally if you can't make it to the loo, then any empty receptacle nearby is fair game. And yes, if it was something disposable, it would be disposed of. And definitely not retrieved several days later to be washed out Envy

multivac · 26/04/2019 10:59

How the heck did you manage to throw up in a water bottle?!

Ncforever12345 · 26/04/2019 11:00

You have skill to contain vomit to a water bottle, I can't even aim for a bucket when I'm sick... [misses the point]

BlindAssassin1 · 26/04/2019 11:01

Congratulations for actually getting any of it in a bottle - what a skill! I don't think you can hold back the urge to be sick, its a strong reflex.

I think your DH is particularly disgusting and overly pious with the recycling. One plastic bottle is not going to save the environment. And all the resources and effort with cleaning that one bottle would not outweigh the energy to recycle the thing. Though I guess its commendable. Does he want to walk down some of the stretches of motorway I pass and collect all the plastic bottles with piss in them? Perhaps he can get his scouts recycling badge then?

TimeIhadaNameChange · 26/04/2019 11:02

Another one impressed you managed to catch it in a water bottle!

I had noro last year. It wasn't long til I was content with reaching lino. I didn't get there a couple of times and ended up vomiting on carpet. I did cover it all in towels, but the clean up waited til the morning.

DP couldn't care less! TBH he didn't quite realise the extent of things. If he had, he'd have cleaned it all up himself.

Ncforever12345 · 26/04/2019 11:04

@NoHolidaysforyou be honest, did you use a funnel?

Soubriquet · 26/04/2019 11:04

Another one impressed at being sick in a bottle! Wow!

Usually I’m pretty good with sick. I can hold it in until I get to the toilet.

But when I had HG, nothing stopped it. I was even sick on the shop floor at work once...my boss was not impressed

EinsteinsArousedSausagesHCB · 26/04/2019 11:04

Impressive OP. Star

But wtf did H rinse out the bottle? That's rank!

Oysterbabe · 26/04/2019 11:05

How the fuck do you throw up in a water bottle?

babysharkah · 26/04/2019 11:06

My daughter has thrown up in a water bottle before in the car, very contained!

Your husband is a dick, If he wants to clean a vomit filled water bottle let him get on with it.

VladmirsPoutine · 26/04/2019 11:12

Really. Just why to all of this. The water bottle. Him ravaging it to clean it. Does he also check to see if your tampons have been used to full capacity.

Looneytune253 · 26/04/2019 11:12

I must admit I would be a bit horrified at finding that. Not something I would do and if I had I would be rinsing it out myself tbh. But I am a bit afraid of sick. Sets me on edge hearing someone being sick or seeing slight remnants in the loo

AnnieMay100 · 26/04/2019 11:15

He should be more concerned you’re ok than worry about a water bottle! Does he regularly rummage through the bin? I’ve got a boss like this you have to plan your illness and book it off like ‘next Thursday I shall break my leg and need a few weeks off, in July I’ll have a terrible cold I’ll need one day off for’ some people are ridiculous

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 26/04/2019 11:15

He's grim! No way would And I say this as someone who once washed out a magnum champagne bottle after DP was forced to wee in it at a party. It was an emergency measure & we didn't want to leave behind any traces behind Blush.

Am v impressed at your bottle vomming skill!

Keepthebloodynoisedown · 26/04/2019 11:16

Impressive aim. I would probably chucked it in the out side bin/ emptied it straight down the toilet though. Bit gross to leave it in the bin

MustardScreams · 26/04/2019 11:19

@VladmirsPoutine Grin Grin

Another one amazed at throwing up in a bottle! I once woke up in the middle of the night puking. All over my pillow. That was a grim clean up.

NoHolidaysforyou · 26/04/2019 11:19

I don't understand it either, he has been obsessed with recycling, which I understand and try to do my best. I just think he could have left the 1 bottle to give me a little sense of privacy? Not sure if that's the right word... I told him he was being weird and gross. Sometimes I just think he's obsessed with me, he follows me around all the time even when I'm upset with him and tries to carry on conversation. I just want time to cool off on my own.

Can’t work out how you managed it in the first place but why on earth did your husband rinse it out? That’s just grim!

expatinspain · 26/04/2019 11:21

You really need to explain how it's possible to vomit in a water bottle Confused

eBaysLikeMyFamily · 26/04/2019 11:22

10/10 on the vom aim!

TheTrollFairy · 26/04/2019 11:23

Another one who’s impressed with your sick skills. I would need a second bottle for my nose sick 🤢
I always get to the toilet as I’m weird about throwing up elsewhere but you shouldn’t really hold your sick in. I’m sure I read somewhere that it can be quite dangerous?

Definitely wouldn’t have rinsed a sick bottle out. That’s so weird!
