To think cinemas should go back to having film intervals?

Films are soooooo long these days. Often 2hours plus.

They tempt you with pop, slushies and even beer and expect you to not need to pee.

I understand some people wouldn't want the extra time added on but couldn't they do every 1 in 4 showing with a 10 minute interval half way through?

Films are so expensive to watch and I feel like I spend too much time wondering when the most boring time to run out for a pee is Grin

You can always tell in old films where the intermission was

IceRebel · 25/04/2019 19:34

You need to go here, they have an intermission where you can buy ice cream and listen to the organ. Grin

There's an old fashioned cinema that has an interval for ice-cream - not the most comfortable of seats and no choice if from but not too off prices either

Mamalicious16 · 25/04/2019 19:58

Rip off prices

Ragwort · 25/04/2019 20:01

Come & live rurally, we have Flicks in the Sticks & there is an interval where you get a cup of coffee or tea (& biscuit Grin) & chat to your friends because you know at least 80% of the audience.

Aaw bless this post is cute
Indian movies do have intervals as they can be up to 3.5 hours long

RevealTheLegend · 25/04/2019 20:09

I have used runpee.

I can confirm it works and is brill.. you do need to look at the synopsis before and decide which pee. Real you are going for, and how to recognise it (or set the alarm)

GarthFunkel · 25/04/2019 20:09

I am dreading Endgame for this very reason Hmm Although I'm sure they put an interval into one of the Lord of the Rings when they showed it - I remember being very pregnant and being very relieved.

OutInTheCountry · 25/04/2019 20:14

My favourite cinema still has an intermission. Great with the kids or for longer grown up films.

NewNewName · 25/04/2019 20:23

You don't have to drink a bucket of coke you know!! (And at their prices, why would you?)
I'm not a fizzy drink fan anyway so the most I'd get is a standard coffee or 500ml bottle of water and I still wouldn't need to leave to pee if just sipped it. And I've had four kids!

adaline · 25/04/2019 20:36

We have intervals at some of our local cinemas.

They have ice-creams on trays, and some even have pianos.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 25/04/2019 20:37

The last film I saw that had an interval was Pearl Harbour.

LittleElle · 25/04/2019 20:37

I sat through 3.5 hours of End Game today and wholeheartedly want intervals back

OnlyLittleMissOrganised · 25/04/2019 20:39

Oh I love the runpee app! Absolute godsend! I paid the infinity coin to get unlimited access! Works great. Highly recommend it.

Fatted · 25/04/2019 20:45

@LittleElle 3 and a half hours?! ShockConfused

I need a catheter for Saturday.

SuddenlyISee · 25/04/2019 20:49

My local cinema still has an interval Grin

GwenCooper81 · 25/04/2019 20:52

Imagine if they showed the trailers and adverts during the intermission?! Win win!

MaddieElla · 25/04/2019 21:15

My local cinema has an intermission! It's in Woodhall Spa, the curtains are drawn and someone comes out and plays the organ! Ice cream gets dished out.

Takes me right back to the 80s when I was a kid.

MaddieElla · 25/04/2019 21:17

Oh IceRebel, that's the one! Grin

MrsPnut · 25/04/2019 21:20

Our local is Kinema in the woods too, much better than the Odeon in the city and the snacks don’t require a mortgage to purchase them. The best showing is the Christmas one.

Lillygolightly · 25/04/2019 21:24

Yes would love an interval, I never drink at the cinema and don’t drink before and make sure I go for a wee before film starts.

I hate needing to pee during the last hour/half hour of a film.

Fiveredbricks · 25/04/2019 21:26

Our little local one still does :)

girlwithadragontattoo · 25/04/2019 21:29

They still do intervals here in Portugal

BentBaastard · 25/04/2019 21:57

Ds17 went at midnight last night

He prepared his bladder for the event 🤣🤣

Drank water all day
Peed every half hour
Peed at the cinema
Only had water and no fizzy drinks

Worked a treat

HomeEdRocks18 · 25/04/2019 23:39

They do at The Palace in Longridge. An usher goes around at the interval with ice lollies, coc ices and sweets (and a torch!)
I know as I was an usher there. Brilliant job
