I think it's better to wait until the baby is born before you splash out on perfect prep / breast pump as you don't know what you'll actually want to do until you're doing it. Expressing instead of breastfeeding is the worst of all worlds from an inconvenience point of view, you should really try it before you decide.

Likewise sleep - don't spend too much until you know if you have a cosleeper / want a side sleep cot / sleepyhead in a big cot / moses basket. With a summer baby you won't want much by way of sleeping kit, our spent all summer sleeping in just a vest and nappy, a blanket for maybe 4 days. In the spring though he got a lot of use out of sleeping sacks, particularly to be snuggy in the pushchair!

Video monitor, close caboo sling and thick playmat are good everyday items, also a snoozeshade to put on the pushchair and protect the baby from the sun when it's bright and hot. We used the tiny love close2me chair so the baby could lie down at table height while we ate, and we still use it now for him sitting at the table, so that was a great investment. Loads of muslins, bibs are useful for spit but often arrive with outfits people by you so I wouldn't bother. The best nappy cleaning are water wipes, buy in bulk for cheaper prices; nappies from Aldi or ASDA were best for us, don't get too many as yo can size up from 1-2-3 quite quickly if you have a fast grower who drinks a lot.

Prequelle we just keep the perfect prep upstairs; in the day it doesn't seem so bad to walk upstairs to use it but in the night we don't want to walk downstairs.
