Simply Cook has far less packaging. One small cardboard box that fits through letter box, 3 small recyclable pots and recipe cards. It's the most environmentally friendly one I've found.

Thanks Brilly - I'm very tempted to give it a go!

Parker231 · 26/04/2019 18:35

Cook is brilliant - gorgeous well prepared meals ready to put in the oven.

ASauvignonADay · 26/04/2019 18:47

I want to try but worried that it'll get pinched when I'm at work!

MrsJacksonAvery · 26/04/2019 19:04

Didn’t realise Morrison’s did this - have just ordered 6 meals - half price at £12.50. Good veggie/vegan range for us. However - first delivery date is Thurs 9th.

Chilledout11 · 26/04/2019 19:09

Sounds like a great idea. Wouldn't worry about what people think. You are making it work for you. That's all that matters. If cost is a factor you could have a pasta pesto and salad night once a week or buy a cooked chicken on the way home to reduce overall cost per week.

Only tried hello fresh. I really wish I could afford it. We had it in a trial.

Famalamaringwrong · 26/04/2019 20:22

I'm going to try the morrisons one too! Sounds brilliant.

I found it irritating that there is no price distinction between veggie and meat meals - some of the recipes clearly use far more ££ ingredients and it's not taken into account.

Conversely, I looked at some other recipe boxes with variable price per meal and was put off by that. When all meals are the same price I choose what sounds tasty without worrying about whether the ingredients are cheap or expensive.

(Hello Fresh do now have some "premium" meals that have an extra charge.)

MerryMarigold · 28/04/2019 16:38

They do charge more for certain meat ingredients, which is probably why I end up with mince or vegetarian.

I did the Hello Fresh turkey meal last night. It was a dinner to lunch one. Turkey steaks with kale and roasted potatoes for dinner. At same time you prepared bulgar wheat with spinach, and roasted peppers and broccoli in the oven whilst potatoes were roasting. The excess turkey steaks went into the bulgar wheat and veg for a cold lunch. We ate it for dinner tonight and it was lovely.

Gets me eating things like kale that I’d never normally do.

KneelJustKneel · 29/04/2019 22:30

Oooh that sounds good. Is it advertised as dinner to lujnch? I need to be told what to do :(

TitchyP · 29/04/2019 22:55

Ive tried Gousto and Hello Fresh and liked both, although Gousto has the edge I think. Unfortunately the last box contained chicken that had gone off, which has put me off a bit.

MadameJosephine · 29/04/2019 23:05

I’ve tried simply cook, hello fresh and Gousto and I think Gousto has been the best, there’s definitely much more choice especially veggie stuff. I had a box delivered this week and had delicious sticky sesame tofu with asparagus noodles for dinner last night, it was delicious. If you’re thinking about getting one PM me as I can send you a ‘refer a friend’ link that will get us both a discount

Oriunda · 30/04/2019 19:53

@kneel - yes. I was dubious but it worked out perfectly.
