Sorry it's not a AIBU but the children's health board looked very quiet.

DS is 9 months and has a coldsore between his nose and mouth. Not on his lips.

Does anyone have any experience of this and can suggest a remedy?

Could it be impetigo?

If it is a cold sore the best treatment by far is a light treatment device which just takes a couple of minutes once or twice a day and stops them in their tracks/makes them clear up more quickly. They are quite expensive but possibly available on prescription.

Oh no, how awful to have caught the virus so young!

Eldest DD got her first coldsore a few months ago. She’s nearly 8. I get them but didn’t have one around the time and when I do I don’t kiss them etc so I’m not sure if she’s caught it from me or someone else. We just used Zovirax although you’d be best checking with a chemist first with him being under 1 I’m not sure if they can use it?
Got to say I was upset when she got it, I was really hoping she wouldn’t be like me. I get one around 3 times a year and I hate them.

I have been plagued with these for years! I recently had a bad outbreak and started using witch Hazel liquid, I haven't had one since. I usually get about 2 a month and have been cold sore free for 6!

If you get regular coldsores get acyclovir tablets from your GP.
