AIBU to chuckle at this?

Someone posted on a local FB group that they sadly spotted a dead black and white cat on the hard shoulder of a nearby motorway, in case anyone had been missing one recently.

Somebody then responded with a picture of a black and white cat sitting on a couch and said 'did it look like this? Fudge has been missing all week' (not real name).

When I saw that I had to give out a small chuckle at how the ludicrous the response was. How the hell is someone driving at 60+mph and seeing a poor cat smooshed into the tarmac supposed to make a positive idea on a generic black and white cat? Surely all black and white cats look the same when bombing past a dead one in your car? Christ if it was a human I would have no idea unless they were wearing distinct clothing!

Obviously it's a terrible end for that poor wee animal and my sympathies go out to the owner who, if it was this poster, was probably distressed and wanted more info/closure.

Am I basically an evil person for chuckling at daft social media posts like this? I have a feeling I am going to get majorly roasted for this..but I suppose it will get me accustomed to the local climate of where I'm headed when I die.

I wouldn't think there is anything funny about this post. Somebody has lost their beloved pet and there is a deceased cat.

I don't think I would be chuckling. How odd.

Nesssie

I guess you're not a fan of/have never laughed at black humour?

I wasn't chuckling at the dead cat or the owners distress but at the thought someone could make a positive idea from a split second, single glance observation whilst also maintaining their attention on the road ahead of them.

There's no chance unless they have a Sherlock Holmes levels of photographic memory.

I wouldn't be 'chuckling' at that either Hmm

OoohAyyye · 23/04/2019 12:51

I can't imagine that I would chuckle but I can't help but feel that if a stand up comedian said it (and it wasn't necessarily true) then yes I would laugh.

QuiFaitCa · 23/04/2019 13:11

Yes that makes me laugh! I do tend to find a lot of things comical that others don't :)

Like this but cat? www.thepoke.co.uk/2018/04/17/thread-starts-sad-will-forgiven-glorious-conclusion/

What happens with run over pets? I know most councils don't scan them for microchips before they destroy the body, but would a vet collect a body?

MissLadyM · 23/04/2019 13:17

There's nothing even vaguely funny about this. You're a horror.

grincheux · 23/04/2019 13:20

I think I saw it myself... I was happily convincing myself it was just a plastic bag til DP chimed in with "nurrr did you see that cat" Sad

Stressedout10 · 23/04/2019 13:32

@ Garth 😯🤣
@Bounce I laughed to

LightDrizzle · 23/04/2019 13:51

Garth! - thanks for sharing 😂

CustardySergeant · 23/04/2019 14:00

That's not even slightly amusing to me.
