Think fuck it and get a sleeve tattoo I've been desperate for for years? My DP says I have too many already (10 small ones). I work in a school but ht doesn't mind them at all. I would never get anything offensive or upsetting. Going through a shit time at the min and have designed a really meaningful sleeve for myself.

It's your body, if that's what you really want, go for it!

brizzlemint · 23/04/2019 11:03

No because some schools insist that they are always covered up - do you want to be in long sleeves all the time at work?

If that's not an issue for you I'd wait 6 months or so and see if you feel the same way. I contemplated a tattoo when I'd been having a rough time but I now know I'd have regretted it so I'm grateful to the people wh suggested waiting a few months.

I have a full sleeve and teach. I definitely don’t have to cover mine up although I do teach adults so maybe that’s the difference.

Just go for it!

if you like tattos go ahead its your body

Omzlas · 23/04/2019 15:13

Your body - your choice

That said, have you seen tattoos that are decades old? They (IMO) look awful, they fade and the colours bleed and they just don't look nice. It'll look nice for a few years.... but after that? And yes, I have tattoos. Mine are approx 20 years old and although I still like them, they look nothing like they used to and I dislike that aspect. (All mine were professionally done and not in someone's spare room with a needle and a biro)

BlueMerchant · 23/04/2019 15:18

Go for it if that's what will make you happy.
I have a few small tattoos that I regret.
I'd rather hang my art on the wall from now onGrin

I don't have to cover my tattoos I have now.

That’s fine for now but what if you want to change schools at some point in the future? Every school I’ve ever worked in have specified “no visible tattoos”.
