I'm eight months into a new relationship and it's going very well! The only downside so far is my DP has a couple of medical issues which restrict his diet.

I usually love cooking, especially for special occasions, but I'm a bit stumped! We're currently eating soups and stir fry but some variety would be nice.

Does anyone have any recipes that don't include;
Tomatoes
Peppers
Chillies
Cous cous
Potatoes
Parsnips
Melted cheese (uncooked cheese is fine)
Too much oil/fat

He eats meat but I'm a veggie so joints of meat etc won't really work either.

There is an app called Mealime that you can pick what ingredients to exclude and it will give you recipes then (and a handy shopping list)

Fr3d · 22/04/2019 22:08

Offhand, rice or pasta dishes. Curry. Quiche.

Divgirl2 · 22/04/2019 22:11

Mushroom risotto fits the bill here.

Companion42 · 22/04/2019 22:33

Oh I'll try that app out, thanks! He's not very keen on pasta and I'm not sure what to add to it except for cheese and tomato based sauces?

What did he cook for himself before he met you? Why can't he eat that?

Fr3d · 22/04/2019 22:40

Ravioli doesn't really need a sauce. Pesto. White sauce. Mushroom sauce. Garlic.

GreenTulips · 22/04/2019 22:41

Omelette
Salad and fish
Jacket potatoes and beans/tuna/egg/
Chicken and Rice
Shepard’s pie
Mushroom lasagna

Companion42 · 23/04/2019 07:22

Ravioli is a good idea, I hadn't thought of that! He used to just eat stir fry and soup. Which is fine. But as we're spending more time together it gets a bit repetitive. And I'd like to be able to do us something special every now and again as I like cooking.

Thanks Green tulips but most of those have cheese, meat or potatoes so won't work. It's harder than it looks!

What did he eat before you got together? What are his ideas on his meals? It's his issues with food so he must know his own workaround.

It's not like he's a baby and you need to do his thinking for him, is it! Hmm

Companion42 · 23/04/2019 08:08

No, I don't. I'm possibly not explains this very well. We're starting to spend more time together so we're eating together more. He's happy with soups and stir fry. I am too 80% of the time. I'd just like some options for special occasions or when I don't fancy one of the above and I was stuck for ideas.

I don't like mushrooms but a risotto or veggie ravioli sound like good options so I'll give those a try!

If you're into cooking and like to do something a bit special sometimes then home made pasta with a simple home made sauce is delicious. The pasta is just eggs and flour and you can make the sauce out of anything you want so you can avoid stuff he can't eat.

Fr3d · 23/04/2019 12:28

Tzatziki, hummus, falafel (tho falafel is deep fried so mightn't be suitable)

SittinOnThaToilet · 23/04/2019 12:30

Yeah, fuck you OP for daring to cook for your partner. How dare you?!

(sarcasm)
