Baby Allergy?

Doing baby led weaning with DS, he has come up with a rash/hives over his face during dinner. Obviously I've taken the food off him and washed his face but I'm wondering wether to take him to a&e or not. No other symptoms, pretty chirpy. WWYD?

What was he eating?

Treaclesweet · 22/04/2019 21:57

Salmon, red pepper and broccoli. I'm assuming it's the salmon as he's not had it before.

Just keep an eye on them, if it's not getting worse and there's no swelling it's not an emergency. What food was it?

I'd ring your HV in the morning and let them know.

My DS developed a rash after eating fish a couple of times, I spoke to my HV and they said to just keep an eye on him (but not to avoid fish if it's just a rash). He never developed the rash again and eats lots of fish now.

We had this. DD was allergic to egg. We kept a food diary and took pictures. Made a GP appointment once we were sure it was egg, then got referred to the allergy clinic for skin prick testing.
We are now slowly introducing it.

Thank you @Divgirl2 (lol) & @Hunkyd0ry it's gone down now so will speak to HV in the morning. Quite scary the prospect of giving him fish again! Maybe in the a&e carpark...

Quite a lot of kids get red skin after eating tomatoes, peppers and aubergine, if its touched their skin. It doesn't seem to cause any other effects. Might be worth ruling this out?

Take pictures of the hives (if still there), monitor overnight and GP in the morning. With any luck they may send you for allergy testing so you can identify for sure the allergen, and test other common allergens too.
