So today I went to the races and I put a bet on a horse for £2 and it was 10-1
So I should have won £22 (I think )
Anyway handed over my £2 and the guy on the computer printed the ticket and he had put down my stake was £10
Anyway walked away and the horse won and I got £110 back
Was I wrong not to tell them I only bet £2

You're very unreasonable though to bet on horse racing which is a cruel and exploitative industry

^this

Bit late to think about that now

Take this one.
Bookies rarely make mistakes in the punters favour.

RocketSurgery · 23/04/2019 06:48

Is point to point racing cruel? I always go and bet on that but in my head I don’t think of it as ‘proper’ horse racing. I don’t know anything about the industry though so I could be completely wrong!

I don't agree that it's cruel tbh
All the horses are well looked after and my cousin is a stable hand and is so dedicated to them.
I don't like jump racing as I get nervous incase they hurt themselves but I do enjoy going to flat meetings.

It is cruel.

Grumpelstilskin · 25/04/2019 16:56

Of course, racing is cruel. People who support this industry are pure scum.

Crappygilmore · 25/04/2019 18:51

If it was another situation ie: local wi raffle or such like I would say no hand it back. But bookies are the scourge of the earth. They take money off people who are desperate . Enjoy it . A sudden windfall is lovely. Hope you get something nice. And yes big jump racing is cruel ie grand national ect but the local races are just a chance for horses to run and they love it. ( exbil was a jocky ) horses were built to run and a little competition does them good.
