Anyone ever camped out in their back garden?

I'm really tempted. It's so peaceful. Anyone, an adult, ever done it?

Also slept out on the decking last year when it was boiling hot, just on a throw thing with a cushion (woke up once to find next door's cat lying next to my head purring his head off). It was so lovely. Did two nights in a row. Garden over-run with foxes now so seems a bit mental to even think about it.

We used to all the time as kids, we also camped in my parent garden last summer when a family event meant there was no more room at the inn. I always find camping in the garden more scary than camping on a camp site for some reason.

We do it quite often, but a garden in London isn't a quiet place at night. Foxes, police sirens, neighbours having late night BBQ's, and of course Heathrow airport doesn't help. Conversely, 5am on a crisp day before the city wakes up is a surreal experience. So quiet - just the birds chirping.

I'm doing the odd night in the garden with my 4yr old as a low-effort trial run (to acclimatise him to the tent and check my packing list). Next step is one night fairly near home where all we do is go, set up tent, sleep, return home in the morning, and so on up to a full holiday away.

We used to do it in friends gardens as teens, it was brilliant!
I'd do it loads now with DS if we were lucky enough to have a garden.
