Do you have a clicky link? Or summarise what happened?

bridgetreilly · 22/04/2019 22:09

I suppose if you said very clearly to the children at the beginning that they are making the bears as presents for the birthday girl, it's sort of okay, but to spring it on them at the end is really weird and unkind. The whole thing is pretty bizarre, though.

All the bears went to the birthday child?? How utterly bizarre

JacktomyDaniel · 22/04/2019 22:20

Sorry not sure how to link properly. Basically in USA. Mum invited all kids to come and eat then build a bear but at the end without warning stated that all made bears had to be given to the birthday child. All this after the others had “personalised” them and assumed they were keeping them

Bloody Hell! I suppose if she's paid for the party & the bears, she technically "owns" them, but the point of those parties is that attendees get their own bear. What a cruel thing to do to children, and after they personalised the bears, too!

Reminds me of the recent thread on here where the OP wanted to take her Dds friend to BAB for her Dds birthday treat... but only Dd was to get a bear. She was quite rightly told to treat them the same or forget it. Bear

This was a MN thread a few days ago!

Dollywilde · 22/04/2019 22:35

This was a MN thread a while ago. Op invited second child to join their DC at a BAB but wasn’t willing to buy the guest child a bear. Kicked off a bit iirc.

Dollywilde · 22/04/2019 22:35

Too slow!

JacktomyDaniel · 23/04/2019 07:12

Sorry didn’t realise it had been done before!

I did a BAB party for dd. It was great actually. Only invited six and everyone got a bear. I only allowed one item of clothing or accessory though, there had to be some limits. Bear of their choice and a dress or something. Half way through a giant rabbit came out and jumped around with the kids Grin and they all loved it. It wasn’t actually that expensive and worked out not much more than if I had hired a place and done food etc. This story is terrible though, who even thinks about doing that?

Kpo58 · 23/04/2019 07:23

Wow, what a way to make your child hated by her peers and excluded from all parties going forwards.

FredFlinstoneMadeOfBones · 23/04/2019 07:30

My kids always made the weirdest bears at those parties. (DD made some kind of ninja turtle wearing an 80s lycra aerobic kit singing the my little pony theme tune). Not sure the birthday girl would want it.

Pinkprincess1978 · 23/04/2019 18:10

As a parent why would she want her daughter to have so many new bears?

Selfish and she won't be making her daughter very popular.

Babuchak · 23/04/2019 18:18

that's disgusting. When you invite friends, you share everything - bear and cake included, or you don't invite.

I suppose hosts charging their guests for their drinks, sometimes their food, at their wedding was only the beginning.
