What do I do now? So embarrassed

I'm out on a walk with DP and a few of his friends. We had to walk quite a steep uphill field and I struggled.... started feeling like I badly needed to pee, and when we got to a pub a mile or so away, I've bled pretty heavily. DP is trying to subtly find me new trousers and I'm pretending there's a queue in the ladies and washing these under the sink.

I'm not on my period. I had bad stomach pain all night but it didn't feel low enough for period pain. I'm on the pill; have been for over a decade, no spotting or issues before. I had some random bleeding in February which started at the gym and ended up being very heavy and constant, the hospital diagnosed a miscarriage but did do a cystoscopy at the time which was clear; and an ultrasound.

I'm 28, no children, not TTC yet but probably late this year or early next. No previous issues with periods or contraception... no mum to ask. I'm so embarrassed.

Yes to calling 111. I hope you’re ok op Flowers please try not to feel embarrassed - I completely get why you do but you wouldn’t be embarrassed to suddenly bleed from anywhere else xx

MissingInActionYouSay · 22/04/2019 16:00

I totally agree with others that say it sounds like it could be fibroids and a hormonal issue, I have exactly the same thing happen to me SO many times. It is very easily fixed by getting a gynae referral.

BluePirates · 22/04/2019 16:16

Hope you’ve made it home op

Shrewbie · 22/04/2019 16:18

FlowersFlowersFlowers Hope all ok. Curse of womanhood 😔

SugarPlumLairy2 · 22/04/2019 16:35

It’s more common than you think OP, so try not to feel too bad, you’re handling it really well in any case.

I’ve be3n caught like that too. Used a hoodie tied round waist and made very quick exit sat in car on plastic bag😳.

Drs decided it was PCOS, then threw in the Perimenopause for good measure. The Mirena coil sorted out the atrocious stop/start flooding episodes and investing n a Diva/Mooncup he,led greatly prior to getting coil fitted.

Hope you’ve made it back home, have nice cuppa and some chocolate and get onto your Drs ASAP. 💐☕️🍫

All unexplained bleeding should be investigated, including vaginal. Book yourself an appointment with your doctor, ASAP.

cantfindname · 22/04/2019 17:00

Poor you. Please don't feel embarrassed, it's just one of those things and I am 100% sure no one will be rude or laugh at you, they will all be anxious to help.

Also hoping you are ok OP.

PotterHead1985 · 22/04/2019 17:12

Another just posting to check in if you are ok OP? Thanks

HeresMyBrightIdea · 22/04/2019 18:30

Sorry all, signal got a bit dodgy and my reply wouldn't post! I really appreciate all the advice Thanks

I've known DPs oldest friend for a while and he noticed something was wrong so came to find us inside. He told the others that someone had accidentally spilt some cider on me, so I was free to try and dry my trousers (via the new stomping method!) and he and DP headed into the village to try and find some trousers for me. There wasn't much open and they came back an hour or so later without anything; but by then my trousers were wearable and I'd sat in the sun with DPs other friends. DP came back with some pads and a scotch egg for me, and he and his friend said they had heat stroke from their walk; so the other friends left to finish the walk and I stayed with DP. We're home now, 111 have an hour or so of the four left to call me back, and the bleeding seems to have subsided mostly although I've got a strong pelvic pain.

I'm worried about what it is - mostly because we really wanted to TTC this year and I'm petrified that all the bleeding means there's something wrong - but I'll make sure someone checks me out tomorrow if I can.

Thank you all again Thanks

Glad you’re home safe and well, and Well Done to your friend for his quick thinking.

ThanosSavedMe · 22/04/2019 18:35

How lovely of your dp’s friend. Your dp sounds great too.

Hope all is good

ooItsAoBeautifulDayNow · 22/04/2019 18:45

Really really hope you're ok, what a horrid week :(

On a more positive note your DP and his mate sound like absolute legends.

One of my male friends is like them when I get panicky about similar issues, shrugs his shoulders, helps sort it out and has no idea why I'm embarrassed - pain is pain, nature is nature, illness is illness!

Think maybe women are conditioned to think it's more embarrassing than it is - but totally understand that the reality is it can be mortifying!

PotterHead1985 · 22/04/2019 19:23

Your DP and his mate sound like keepers. I hope 111 ring you soon. I hate that when you are waiting for the non-emergency person to call you back. You can feel like heck and can't get over how they can be so slow (and yes I know they have so much to do etc it's just when you feel awful all you can think of is you!).

I have everything crossed for you that it is nothing serious and you can continue planning for the wonderful time to come when you TTC and any littlies to come. Thanks

francienolan · 22/04/2019 19:42

I hope all is well with you and don't be embarrassed!

A very similar thing happened to me once and it turned out to be the flu coming on--I was also on the pill but my body just went berserk with being ill! Hopefully you will have some answers from 111.

Cherrysoup · 22/04/2019 19:49

This happened to my colleague, except she had a termination then the heavy bleeding some months later. It was a hormone thing with her, I think she changed pills and it resolved.

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 22/04/2019 19:53

Glad you are home and safe. Your DH and his mates sound like good eggs (and a scotch egg too). Please seek medical advice tomorrow but oh god the mortification. Have had similar with a new boyfriend and basically bled all over him! Mortifying.Thankfully, he was mature and kind too. Hope all is OK.

PineappleTart · 22/04/2019 20:00

Pads and a scotch egg... DP and friend sounds great. Hope you get seen tomorrow and reassured x

hazell42 · 22/04/2019 20:21

Dont worry. We have all been there.
I once had a massive flood, out of nowhere, on a works Christmas do.
Luckily I was wearing black, and had a long top that hid the worst of it.
My seat was a bit of a mess though
I cleaned myself up and carried on (was not drinking either)
If it is too noticeable go home. They'll understand

hazell42 · 22/04/2019 20:23

Sorry
Just read update.
Glad you are ok

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 22/04/2019 20:27

I had these symptoms at about your age, also on the pill . I have endometriosis but it actually wasn't that- apparently hormonal contraception can cause polyp like growths on the outside of the womb - I had them cauterised.

trinity0097 · 23/04/2019 20:46

How did you get on? Hope you are OK?

Katinkka · 23/04/2019 20:57

I had a random massive flood after being on a boat last year. I had to buy new clothes in Bon Marche 😱
