A faff?

So we are watching this Harry Redknapp OAP thing and all I said was "it's a faff" having one of these electric cars and he looks at me like I'm a piece of shit and says "why?" He then says that it's the future and that if they were cheaper it would be the thing everyone would have. All I said was that charging it seems a faff and you would have to find a charging point
and only 16,000 points are in the country and he says that you can charge them overnight with a normal socket in your house? I had no idea of this! Am I being thick or hasn't this been advertised very well?

Mine can be charge using a cable that you charge from a normal household plug but when we bought mine the goverment offered a grant to have a charge point fitted at home. There are a couple of apps that have maps that list all the charge points and the car has an option o the display to find the nearest charge point.

I thought it was common knowledge that they could be charged at home. Sorry, but I think out of the options you offer, I have to go for you are being thick... (Although I wouldn't have chosen those words myself).

Thank you for confirming it for me GottenGottenGotten

I didn’t know you could charge them from a normal household plug! Not that it’s a matter I’ve given an awful lot of thought to, I have to say. So I am thick too!

Thank you so much for this. He is always making me feel thick and I've felt really low lately. I've been in tears tonight. Your message has made me feel so much better.Star

Omg, I'm so sorry! I didn't actually mean you are thick, I don't think that at all!

I don't think not knowing a detail like that makes anyone thick, nobody can know every detail of every thing. You just gave two options, and I picked the one that was closest based on my experience

Now I have read your update I feel awful. I really don't think anyone is thick for not knowing a detail like that about something they don't have any experience of.

I'm sorry, you don't deserve to feel that way and he is an arse for making your feel that way. As am I.

Depending on where you live, at home charging may be more or less visible so don’t feel daft. In London it’s the bane of my existence: fat black cables snake across the streets and form trip hazards every few metres. Where my mum lives you’d never know because the cars are garages then charged in there.

LostInShoebiz · 20/04/2019 08:37

*garaged not garages.

I only knew this as someone moved in on my road recently and I've seen the power cord going out the letterbox to the car. Surely it is a faff though as filling up with fuel takes 5 minutes and if you need to charge it I assume it take time? Maybe I am wrong though.

However your DP shouldn't be making you feel like that, you can't know everything and I'm sure there are things that he doesn't know.
