Grandfathers 80th Birthday.

Hi everyone!

I'm really stuck with ideas on what to get my grandad for his 80th birthday - I'm making him a cake for a family meal and have gathered some pictures from his life and put them together as a collage to display as well as buying him a Polo T-shirt. This gift is off my brother, my boyfriend and I so we want to get him something more.

He doesn't really have any hobbies and enjoys going to the pub a couple of times during the week, he's recently had some of his toes amputated so cannot travel for long distances (we were thinking an experience day - but they are all too far) he broke his back a few years ago, as did my nan so we think he deserves something special, the problem is we don't know what to get him.

He keeps mentioning my brothers old I pod, however, these aren't cheap and he isn't confident with using technology so we don't want to spend that much for him to not use it - does anyone know of any cheaper alternatives and have reviews on them please? or any other ideas??

Thanks for your help!

Not my dgf but dgu, bought himself a sporty car for his 80th!! Hadn't driven for ten years! Shock
He lived til 92 likely fuelled by his fun second (3rd?) wind!!

We made a grandad a photo book from photo box. A bit like this is your life. Scanned in old photos from when we was younger and put captions in them. For family ones we scanned in the older ones and then recreated an up to date version and put that in too. He loved it. 😍

What is the budget ?
Maybe, if he can't travel too far, then an iPad / tablet, or a laptop might be a good gift - even if you have to get more of your family to come in with you to make up the money ?
It would also be lovely for you all to put in the time to teach him how to use it - maybe Skype people, maybe e-mails or however you think he would like to keep in touch with people?

A kindle fire and an echo thing? He could play music that way and read the news. You can get puzzle apps and all sorts on there.

And they're easy to use. You could preload it too

iPad. Ipad. Ipad.

Join with other willing members of your family (if possible) to get him one. They’re so intuitive to use - the octogenarians in my family are obsessed with theirs.

Sorry I forgot to include that he has a kindle fire tablet and he never really uses it so I think the ipad wouldnt be the best gift!

Also, were not sure on our budget but lets say under £100.
