To ask if you'd let your 15 week old Baby Ride a Pony?

So would you let your 15 week old baby ride a pony with another child holding them?

I just saw a Mum post a pic and message about this, she was so pleased about her baby riding a pony. Said it was the first of many rides to come.

No way in a million years would I take my baby on a horse, they are too big, dangerous, and unpredictable imo. Also, I've never found horse riding fun. I doubt it's fun for the horse either.

I feel my judgement is clouded though by the fact that every time I see 2 relatives who own ponies, they have some new injury from riding or caring for them. Hmm

People seem really horse obsessed here though, so maybe this is actually quite normal in England? No clue. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m sure I’ll be sitting my daughter on my pony asap when she’s born. I hope she’ll be as horse mad as me.
I can’t see the harm. A lot of children start riding at 2, mine will if they want to. It’s a brilliant (if expensive) hobby.

If it was a truly bombproof pony with the baby just sitting or having a slow walk it's ok, families I know who've got horses often start the little ones off by just sitting on the back of a tiny Shetland, and then as they get bigger they walk, usually the child is a competent rider at a very early age

There's more to riding than just sitting there, so I doubt very much if the 'ride actually happened'. The judgement of the people who know the horse, know the children and know about horses in general, and the parents of both children are what counts as to what risk is present. Sit a baby on a racing tb that's about to go down to the start? Well no. Sit a baby on a pony that's well behaved, used to children and is being held? Yes I would. And have.
