Hello
Just posting in aibu for traffic. After reaching a certain milestone in my life ive decided i want to be a confident and happy person within myself. I often put myself down (body issues, not very confident at work/social gatherings etc). Anyway I've been thinking of keeping a journal but wondered if anyone had used an app or a book and really felt a difference. I downloaded a few free apps but dont like them. Dont mind paying for something if its decent.

I would really recommend The Secret by Rhoda Byrne. If you’re going to keep a journal, you could do a gratitude journal where you write down 3-5 different things a day that you’re grateful for. I have used an app called 3 little things or 3 happy things (can’t rememberer!) which was the same thing in app form and reminds you to log your things each day.

I'm enjoying a book at the moment which is called the little book of stoicism by Jonas salzgeber. Its one of the best books I've read and I wish I'd read it years ago.
I can also recommend 'life is a gift' (can't remember who by)
And the gift of fear by gavin de becker

The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. It's free on YouTube:

Have you listened to Ted Talks before? There is a wide range of topics covered. Look them up on YouTube. X

I did, I always go back to it when I need to refocus and generally boost my positivity. Imthe gratitude journal, if nothing else, is just a really lovely thing to do and helps you to be mindful of the things you do have, and less of what you don’t have. As you start with your 3 different things a day, it’s easy at the beginning and if you’re anything like me the first things will be obvious things such as your family, your home etc, but as it gets harder and harder to think of things you’re grateful for, you get on to the things like “I’m grateful for my vision, so I can see all the beautiful things around me in nature and the faces of all my loved ones”, or “I’m grateful for my working legs that allow me to easily get around, go on lovely walks or go dancing”... it does make you realise just how much we take for granted in life. If you thought for a minute about what your life would be like without those “given” things, such as your site and able-body, you realise really how lucky you are and how much you DO have.

The book describes it as “An attitude of gratitude” which, according to the theory of the Law of Attractive (often poo-pooed on Mumsnet), will bring you more in life to be grateful for.

I will say that The Secret might seem a bit “out there” at first, but if you keep an open mind and give it a go, it can be a really helpful tool. If nothing else, isn’t it just better to look on the bright side of life?

It certainly helped me, at various points in my life. I would go as far to say that it has helped me manifest a quick conception and healthy pregnancy.

Good luck!

Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle

I personally found this far too heavy, but each to their own! Worth a try!
