Sandals that don't burn your feet when walking

This isn't an AIBU - posting for traffic. Tried in Style and Beauty and got no response. Can anyone recommend sandals that don't burn the soles of your feet when walking. Most of the ones I have are more or less ok in this country but when I go on holiday what with the heat and walking further, it can be agony. Any suggestions - have tried to rubber sole things but not entirely successful. Also, want something half decent that looks ok at night - flatties are fine.

Suede insoles are the stuff of nightmares for me.

Pikkolinos have lots of styles and have soft leather insides. I walked all round Rome, then Florence, then Venice in mine last summer with no ill effects.

I have a pair of fit flops (the non chunky style) and walked round Disney in them for a week and was fine. Also like Abercrombie and Fitch sandals as they tend to have slightly foam padded soles underneath the leather.

I have never, ever found sandals to be comfortable so I wear either very light weight trainers or ballerina type shoes and hope for the best.

Madbengalmum · 15/04/2019 19:08

I encounter this with myself and my foot health related patients, the best answer to this is to purchase some scholl sandal gel active inserts, they are clear in colour and attach in the base of your sandal, very discrete and you will not suffer from the burn! And you can interchange them between shoes as they self stick and are removeable.

Saltwater are so comfy

DollyPartonsBeard · 15/04/2019 19:12

Seconding Tevas, but if I'm walking long distances I prefer Air Max trainers.

Ponchie · 15/04/2019 19:16

Birkenstock’s
I have the soft bed slim fit ones

Sunonthepatio · 15/04/2019 19:16

Perhaps there is something odd about my feet as I bought Birkenstock mayari at TKMaxx, and I found them dreadfully uncomfortable.

furryjammies · 15/04/2019 19:28

Strangely whilst I have a narrow foot I also hate ankle straps because I think they make my legs look chunky - it''s such a hassle being a woman - even had to defuzz last night and that took a while Grin

Love Merrells. Does this count as 'decent' for night? I don't care about style so can't judge.

I did over 25,000 steps every day in my Fitflops on holiday last year, best things ever. I've got the thick sole flip flop style and a velcro strapped pair. Won't wear anything else now and I have lots of different sparkly or beaded ones for evening

Firgoodnesssake · 15/04/2019 19:55

Fit flops are so comfortable, you could walk all day and not get sore feet. Various styles available

Also havianas, they too are very comfortable

PenCreed · 15/04/2019 20:00

Mixture of Birkenstocks and a cheaper version of the ones lljkk posted whilst on holiday! Am eyeing up Saltwater's for work though - last year I mostly wore Birkenstocks as I walk a fair bit just to get to work.

JazzyBBG · 15/04/2019 20:01

I love Fitflops about the only shoe I find comfy generally. I brought a pair of their proper shoes though and they weren't good.

PutyourtoponTrevor · 15/04/2019 20:23

Totally agree Jazzybbb I bought some ballet pump style Fitflops and they ripped my feet to shreds

Troels · 15/04/2019 20:40

I've always had a pair of Birkenstocks when we lived in a very hot area. No burned soles on my feet there.
They come in narrower fits too, go to a shop and try a few pairs out for size. I intend to get more this year. I saw some in a shop window not far from us and plan on spending about £80 or so. In 25 years I went through two pairs, so make sure you like them. I like the Nubuck Arizona ones. plain and comfy (I soak my feet in water while wearing them the first time and then walk about in the sun), they then mold to my feet and become the best sandals ever.

Bluejeantreefrog · 15/04/2019 21:39

I love my Tevas for daytime sightseeing and wear Yokonas at night so comfy.

BadPennyNoBiscuit · 15/04/2019 21:41

Sandals with a good insulating sole are going to be ones with thick cork or memory foam soles.

JustDanceAddict · 15/04/2019 21:47

Fit flops are great, or Clark’s that aren’t too sad 😆

OhTheRoses · 15/04/2019 21:53

Josef siebel cross between a shoe and sandal thingy. Not glam but quite neat. Can't link on phone but Jones have them at present. And on really hard walking days a light trainer with a low cut sock.

TapasForTwo · 15/04/2019 21:56

I have these Earth Spirit sandals. They are extremely comfortable, brilliant in the heat, and go with all of my evening clothes. I bought them in 2013 and they are still going strong.

Serenity45 · 15/04/2019 22:01

Another vote for Birkenstocks. I've been wearing them for years now and might have about 15 pairs in different colours

Ijumpedtheshark · 15/04/2019 22:04

I second Merrells.

Thehop · 15/04/2019 22:07

Salt waters.

Loftyswops988 · 15/04/2019 22:13

i've been loyal to saltwaters for years. they're virtually indestructable i feel!
