Moved in on Saturday, I've got a bit of recycling to piling up so went to put it in the blue bin and it's full to the brim of absolute crap!! I'm half tempted to walk the bin round to her house and leave it there Angry would that be really U?

No idea what the heck I'm supposed to do now!!

Can you not put extra out in clear bags? We can here.

Or ask a neighbour if you could squeeze a bit in theirs?

Teddybear080818 · 15/04/2019 08:13

I don't even wanna touch it to be quite honest, from what I can see some stuff is going green with multiple fag butts.
I dont feel comfortable asking new neighbours if I can put old neighbours shit in their bins. Not really their problem. No you cannot put extra out as they wont take it

Do you mean they've filled the recycling bin with stuff that isn't recyclable?

Teddybear080818 · 15/04/2019 08:14

Yes!

Stick a (large) note on the bin for the bin men saying “Rubbish not recycling. Left by previous tenant. Please empty with black bins”.
Worth a shot.

Recycling bin isn't due to be emptied until next week! My Fil works for the council and he said they will not touch the bin at all not even if I paid them to take it

We had this with both recycling and general waste bins. We moved in and both bins were filled to the brim with stuff that the council wouldn't take; jars filled with liquid and electrical cabling for example. We contacted our letting agents and said we didn't feel it was our responsibility to go through what was essentially somebody else's bins to sort out what could be taken, just to save them the trip to the tip (5 mins down the road). The letting agent agreed it wasn't our responsibility and got it sorted out for us. Worth trying your agent?

Teddybear080818 · 15/04/2019 08:28

It's a council house so not sure, I was going to phone them when they open at 9 but honestly dont think they will take it away

If it's non recyclable stuff in there then wouldn't the previous tenant be liable? IE, you could call the landlord/council and tell them what's happened and they can arrange for it to be taken away and then charge the previous tenant off the deposit?

I know it's unlikely but worth a shot

ems137 · 15/04/2019 08:33

My housing association would arrange for one of their team to come around and collect excess waste left behind by previous tenants.

They did when we moved in. They came and emptied the garden bin that was full of rubbish and collected all the old plant pots and rubbish out of the garden.

I dont even like the house Sad it's so grubby and dirty, I feel ashamed to be living here and now this! Want my old house back lol

Inform your council and leave the bins where they’re easily accessible. They have to empty them and will just empty the recycling contents into normal household waste if there are issues. Don’t worry OP it’s easily sorted. It’s not your waste so the council are responsible for it as it’s their bins!

PenelopeFlintstone · 15/04/2019 08:38

I had exactly the same problem. I waited for the bin man who said he could do it and that he remembered my tenants. He said he couldn't do it often as there were even cameras inside the wheelie bin truck and our bins have scan barcodes but he could do it occasionally and would let his manager know why he did it.

cherrytree63 · 15/04/2019 08:46

When I moved I asked the estate agent
At my new house the bins and boxes were crammed to the top with all sorts, as the property had been empty some time and no council tax had been paid the bin men hadn't been emptying them.
They came along after I rang them, sealed them with hazardous waste tape, took them away and left me clean bins/ recycling boxes.

Teddybear080818 · 15/04/2019 08:53

Thanks all I did phone the council and they said somebody would be out to remove it.
That's a lot easier than my way Grin
