I am having a scan first to see the size of baby
Last son born at 35 weeks
Want to plan a c section date this time so I can get my mom here
I'm thinking 38 weeks
I'm really struggling
Suppose to be having sequential growth scans are these every 8 weeks do you know?

Aibu to want a date at this point?

You can ask but in terms of planning a hell of a lot can change. Baby can have their agenda or if you get to the date and there is someone in higher need you may end up being bumped slightly.

You can ask, but a lot can change between now and that date so there's a good chance the date could get moved up.

My first son was born at 36 weeks by EMCS and was about 3rd centile too - this time around I'm just over 37 weeks at the moment and have an induction booked for 39+3 (I'm attempting VBAC), which was only booked in last week when I was 36+6 - and that's due to the medication I'm taking for gestational diabetes, not the growth (baby is measuring small too) or the opiates I've been prescribed for pain (I have kidney problems too).

So it's not unreasonable to ask, but it would be naive to expect the date to stick.

@BeanTownNancy

I hope your kidneys are manageable. Mine have fared fine so far in this pregnancy. I am so relieved. The nerve damage from the urine bag I had three years ago is still ongoing though so pain killers needed during this pregnancy to cope. I've been having so many tightenings like all day every day but I don't think it's related to the pain killers I think it's just one of those things. I wonder if this baby will be early.

Update:

I had the scan and the baby has jumped from under the tenth centile to sort of the 20-30 centile for everything so delivering early due to it being small is looking unlikely.
My consultant was under a heap of pressure today and so was 1.5 hours late and I just didn't feel that he had the time to chat. I did ask about booking but he said no, he will book it at 32 weeks. I have to meet the anaesthetist as well because I've had a seizure before from local anaesthetic and I know that they put that into your spinal column for a spinal / epidural. I hope I can be awake this time as last time I couldn't have an epidural due to infection near the back.

So I've got an appointment on May 14th and at that point he can book my c section depending on the baby's growth. Ill be 32 weeks by then but he also told me a c section is usually 39 weeks and not before then so I guess my mum will have to wait and so will I.

It won't really affect whether or not the baby comes early. At least I can guess within a rough 7 day period of when the baby will be here.

Thanks everyone for the help and I hope my update satisfied you, it's annoying when people don't come back to tell you what happened!!

Locally they wouldn't give you a date till 36 weeks

However as it's for your mum being there they'd be happy to tell you the week it's likely to be (39 weeks in most cases) - but if you had your first at 35 weeks you need to bear in mind you may end up with another premature birth (but they won't book you a section for 35 weeks for that reasons)
