How on earth will I ever get a foundation to match my skin colour?

I've taken the example with no natural light so apologies for horrific photo quality!

I'm looking to get a natural 'glow' from something like a very light foundation or a BB cream type.

However, how can I when this is the difference between my face and the rest of me? My body lots of shades darker than my face. You couldn't even round up or down, they look like they belong to two different people.

I can't put a natural looking BB cream or go about my business with just a little concealer because my face and body do not match. Has anyone had this issue? What did you do?

A nice 'glow' sounds lovely to me but natural make up (so not my usual Double wear by Estee Lauder) just doesn't look right.

What can I do? Does anyone have any ideas?

AIBU to say there's no real way around it other than full on coverage (matching the shade of the rest of me).

Your chest and cheek colour look the same to me, but your neck different. Is that the issue?

My face is pinky colour/tones but my body is more sallow/yellow tones, so I can understand where you're coming from. In fact, my cheeks are pink but round my mouth can be yellower.

I used to use full foundation when i was young, which probably looked ridiculous. Now, I just use BB under-eye concealer under eyes, around the sides of and below my mouth, and across my cheek area. This tones down redness, covers spots and evens out tone. (I might look as ridiculous as in my 20s but i dont care as much.)

In summary, go for something that blends across the main parts of your face, but don't go for full coverage.

Ring No, sorry Blush Must be my horrendous image quality.

My neck and the rest of me is the colour of, say, Meghan M after seeing a little bit of sun, and my face seems to be the colour of Kate Middleton!

No exaggeration there. It's a nightmare

You look like you could do with golden yellow tones. NYX can't stop won't stop foundation is brilliant and has a really good shade range. If you go to bigger Boots stores the often have a large range and often a sales assistant who can help you shade match. Milani cover and conceal on Beauty Bay is also really good and has a good range of shades and descriptions of each shade x

I went to a makeup course lately. They say match as well as you can, your foundation to your skin colour, then use a bronzer or highlighter to blend and match more with your neck colour. It’s what I do in summer. I am very pale, use fake tan on body and then my face doesn’t match. I’d try that. Even if you don’t put bronzer everywhere, just forehead, nose, jawline and cheeks lightly dusted.

Are you asian OP? If so I'd suggest getting a brand that caters for ethnic skin tones. Bobby brown and Mac isn't bad and Fenty does a good bb.

iolaus · 14/04/2019 21:04

Fenty has millions of different shades (ok slight exaggeration but over 100) - we ended up going into Sephora while in Poland to work out the right shade then ordered it online

Use the Boots colour matching; the people on the make up counter will do it. Matched me perfectly and they have a great range of foundation.

Match to your chest, and bronze your neck. Lighter coverage foundation's don't have a brilliant shade range, so I'd get a better coverage foundation and mix it with moisturiser. Nars does tones similar to yours.
