To ask if any of you went to London for Princess Diana's funeral?

Just watching a documentary about the week following Princess Diana's death and the overwhelming outpouring of grief that crossed the country. We were living overseas at the time so had no idea of the effect it had.

Did anyone on here go down to London during that week for the funeral or to sign the condolence books?

Just sums up how fickle people really are
'Waaahhh it's terrible Lady Di died 😭😭😭'
Okay let's all have a McDonald's

Bloody hell - no one should ever have a funeral tea again.

No. I thought making William & Harry meet the crowd beforehand & walk behind the coffin was awful too. Sod 'tradition', it wasn't the 1800's & having lost my Dad at 19 that would have finished me off.

We lived near Hyde Park and saw the funeral on the big screen. There wasn't mass hysteria at HP.

No perfectly normal for people to watch funerals on big screens in the park, some of whom have travelled on specially charted trains from the other end of the country.

I remember watching a documentary with Harry and William and they were bewildered at the nations response. They couldn’t understand the outpouring of grief when it was they that had lost there mum. They said being forced to walk behind the coffin should never have happened as they were distraught at losing their mother. They had to put on a show for the world instead of being left to grieve. Sad state of affairs and the queen was ‘bad’ too for trying to keep the boys away from the public eye to grieve and was severely criticised too. I remember the reporters fuelling the hate against the royals who were not breaking protocol for not putting the flag at half mast.... amazing how the news became a vendetta against the royal family but not the press who pursued Diana for years and years and subsequently led to her death..... it was a bizarre time
