To wake him up?

Returning home after driving up v late yesterday. Approx 2.5-3 hrs left of our 4 hour journey. Partner has been asleep in car for over an hour having stopped at services as he was tired. Originally hoping to be back by 8 as I have plans this evening. Shall I wake him up so we can continue journey? (I am not insured to drive his car btw so cant take over driving)

Don’t wake him up. He needs to be safe to drive.

HarrysOwl · 13/04/2019 18:46

No, I wouldn't. Your safety is more important than your plans.

But how long do I let him sleep? Another hour? 2? More?

I mainly came on the journey as a help to him, and it was on the proviso I needed to be back this evening so being stuck in the car I am feeling a little peeved.

Is he unwell?

mclady · 13/04/2019 18:52

On a purely practical note, check around the services for parking restrictions as some will only let you park up for two / three hours. Could help you judge when you need to wake him.

Chermubble · 13/04/2019 18:52

No not unwell. Just tired.

If he's that tired then I'd offer to drive. As far as my insurance is concerned if he's given you permission then you're at least covered for 3rd party. Unless there was a possibility of alcohol still being in his system I'd wake him.

Chermubble · 13/04/2019 18:53

Good point, yes signs say only 2 hours parking. Been here since about 1730ish.

Can you not drive?

PillowTalker · 13/04/2019 18:55

An hour's sleep will make a big difference to his tiredness.

It's a nap, not a good night's sleep. Go into the services, buy him a coffee and he'll get another 10 mins and then wake him up

Chermubble · 13/04/2019 18:55

He doesn't drink. My car insurance is for my car only unfortunately, no cover for other vehicles, so I'm not even covered TP to drive his.

I’d wake him now then get him a coffee so he can be waking up properly whilst you get his drink. He still has time then to drink the coffee and pop to the loo before your time expires. Tbh anymore sleep and he at feel worse anyway. Safe travels.
