DS is 2.5 and has always been a great eater (believe me, for that I'm very grateful).

However, it feels like he basically eats non stop from when he gets up to when he has his nap, and then starts right up again.

Yesterday he went to the childminder at 7am. Before that he'd had a bowl of cereal and a banana. I sent him with a full size wholemeal ham sandwich, banana, pack of quavers, satsuma, cucumber sticks, babybel, yoghurt, dried apricots and 2 breakfast biscuits. Apparently he'd eaten the lot by 1130, and they ended up having to buy him a kids meal deal thing about 3pm as he was starving again. He then came home and ate dinner and an entire box of strawberries.

Surely this can't be normal?! Over the course of the day I'm fairly sure he eats more than me, and I'm a fairly average sized adult!

And if it is normal, any tips on lunchbox suitable food that is more filling than what I'm giving?

Protein is the number one thing for filling the appetite.
Your ds is eating mostly carbs.

Start the day with protein rich foods- eggs. Give some chicken pieces as a snack, or cheese.

Increasing protein will quell the appetite- same is true for adults,

Was the sandwich etc meant for his lunch? If so, why did the childminder give it to him? Is he overeating/overweight? Is he bored and says he’s hungry when he really needs more stimulation?

Hmm OK thanks, I will look to add protein. If anyone has any ideas for quick protein based breakfasts, they'd be much appreciated! As it's already a rush getting both of us ready and out the door.

Chicken as a snack sounds good and I will up the cheese. They're allowed their lunchboxes mid morning and then when they stop for lunch (they go on a trip every day), generally the kids leave something that they then eat later but some days he seems to demolish the lot. And I don't think it's boredom as he's just the same when hes out and about and completely entertained. No weight issues, he's always been pretty much aligned in the height and weight percentiles
