AIBU to think buying maternity clothes is ridiculously hard

I desperately need some new over the bump maternity jeggings, preferably in several colours.

The only shop in my city that sells maternity clothes is H&M and they have an absolutely tiny maternity selection.

Buying maternity clothes online seems almost impossible. I can't try on before I buy and hate the faff of returning things and having to wait for my money to be returned, plus will then lose out on the postage cost.

Why don't more shops sell maternity clothes in store?? Please does anyone know of any decent places to buy them online where the sizes are true, the prices are fair and the quality means they will last another 6 months of pregnancy! Also, I am a size 18 so it has to be somewhere that actually stocks larger sizes as loads of them seem to only do sizes for slim women, which I wasn't before I got pregnant the first time, and as my DS is only 6 months old and I didn't lose any of the baby weight, I'm even bigger this time around!!

I was a size 18 when I got pregnant, and the only clothes I've bought are maternity tights and some bigger leggings. Generally clothes in larger sizes are very generous in the stretchiness of the belly area, and I just wear leggings (size 20-22 from Sainsbury's, where I do the majority of my good shopping anyway) with a (stretchy) dress. I've actually lost weight in pregnancy (thank you nausea and GDm) so I'm more of a size 16 now apart from my belly.

I agree that it's a right pain - and I think for some (I personally think most) body shapes just wearing larger sizes looks pretty terrible and unflattering. I do think it's easier to buy online for maternity than 'normal' clothes, though, as inherently you're buying for a changing body, so even if you try something on in the shop you'll have to guess how it'll fit you in a month, so getting the fit quite right isn't as important as for non-maternity clothes

Yours Clothing - they are a plus size online shop and do maternity stuff. I’m bigger than you and got lots of nice jersey things from there.

Yes it's an absolute PiTA

In the 2.5 years between my pregnancies the 2 or 3 shops that stocked maternity wear in my city stopped doing it. Sign if the times on the high street probably.

I just ordered a shit load at once so I didn't have to pay postage. New look, George at Asda and dorothy perkins for basics. I got a coat off Facebook marketplace and a couple of nice bits from mamalicious online. And a couple of really nice bits from Topshop which is odd as I dont shop there normally. If you've got a special occasion you can get posh stuff like seraphine from Ebay
