To think Green Belt Areas should not be built on.....no matter what?

Am so fed up of councils grabbing Green Belt areas in order to build new houses without taking into account the impact this has.
I live in a small village where the council have decided it's a good idea to build basically a whole new village on the supposed green belt area.
Do they not realise the impact this will have?.
New roads will need to be built in a village that already has crawling traffic. The school is full. We don't have a GP surgery, and the site they have chosen will impact greatly on our castle remains.
Anyone else felt totally impotent if this has happened in their home town?

Another village near me, about 4 miles away, had a very large new housing estate built a few years ago.
They "promised" to build a new Medical Centre in the middle of the estate,,,which they did.
However, all they really did was close down a medical centre 2 miles away and move it into the new housing estate centre.
Yes, the new home owners got their GP surgery, but it was at the expense of the folk living 2 miles away who now found themselves having to travel further to see their own GPs!

How do you propose its policed? Pay up, it takes the council a year to spend the money (for example) and put this provision into place, in the meantime the developer has spent millions of the land and infrastructure with no money coming in?

That should say 'millions ON' not 'millions of'

I think there needs to be national legislation that addresses the actual needs we have for new building. From looking at where we live, option based infrastructure has meant the option of not creating it. Our council takes no responsibility for creating schooling so making sure councils have to address that kind of thing and making it their responsibility would make someone accountable. The same with nhs provision and parking. It’s absolutely bonkers what’s going on in Bromley. I’m sure other areas have similar tales. The O.P’s point about having another village built that will cause problems just goes to show how these things are badly planned. We have to live with the consequences.
