Another nice sunny day and neighbour is having yet another bloody fire in his garden. I just want to hang out my washing! I know it’s not illegal or anything but it’s still inconsiderate!

Where I used to live in Kent, bonfires were most definitely not legal. All rubbish had to be taken to the council recycling centres.

Check your council website - there will be a section about refuse.

Our local council are amazing at coming out and reading the riot act to bonfire lighters in our village.... I know the man by name now Blush. I won't have it, not when we all have garden waste bins.

Take a photo and email into your local council - you can report a bonfire online on most.

I can't hang my washing outside due to the neighbours smoking weed out their back windows. I'm dreading summer when I can't keep any windows open.

www.gov.uk/garden-bonfires-rules

You can have a bonfire at any time, but persistant bonfires are not allowed, report to local council if it is frequent.

I would just ask your neighbour to do it at dusk after everyone has brought in their washing.

We've had a run on garden fires, the council have increased the garden bin charge again here.

rainbowunicorn · 12/04/2019 14:19

It is very selfish to do this during the day. We have the same around us, A few selfish dickheads that light a fire at least once or twice a week. They should only be allowed in the evening as it spoils the enjoyment of the garden and being out in the fresh air for everyone around them.

Check your councils rules, not allowed to burn anything until after 7pm here

NannyRed · 13/04/2019 18:52

Definitely check your local by-laws regarding bonfires.

Yanbu, he is being very thoughtless.

Fence panels are usually treated with preservative. The smoke given off when they are burnt is toxic.
