How old do you have to be to sign for a Royal Mail letter

Posting for traffic.

I’m expecting a very important letter in the post today that was posted recorded.

My dog has eaten something and I’m concerned for a blockage so I’ve got a vets appointment, but it is the same time as the post comes.

No one else is available to help/sign. Apart from my 13 year old (very sensible) DD who is more than happy to wait for it.

My question is will they let her?

TIA

I don't know but I expect so because the postman won't want to have to take it back to the sorting office for another day. Why don't you do a note to the postman, authorising your daughter to sign for it, then she can proffer it if there is any argument.

If they can write their name and hold a parcel.

I'm pretty sure the postie won't be asking for a birth certificate, hope your dog is OK

Leave your passport and a signed letter giving authorisation.
