To hate my voice so much that I want to change it?

Whenever I hear my voice on a home video or answering machine I HATE IT. It's high-pitched, nasal, I speak too fast (I think). Urgh!

What on earth can I do?

As others have said, everyone hates the sound of their own voice when they hear it back.

I hate my voice, i sound like a 13 year old. Its handy when cold callers call because if they ask for mr or mrs xxxx i tell them they're not in but lots of my DH friends (that are not mutual) talk to me in a really slow and payronosing manner because they assume I'm DD!! However i was amazed that DH said he really hates hearing his voice when i can't hear anything wrong with it at all!!

It's a scientific fact that everyone hates the sound of their own voice because the sound frequencies in your head are different to those externally - so you think you sound odd. Everyone speaks in a higher pitch than they think they do. No one thinks anyone else sounds strange though, it's in your head.

I don't like my voice when I hear it back either, I think I sound really common (I don't notice my accent normally!). People tell me I have a nice soothing voice though 🤷‍♀️.

It's weird. I have exactly the same voice as my sister, to the extent we can fool each others husbands on the phone. I quote like her voice. I can't stand hearing my voice on tape.

I speak soooo much more slowly in reality than I think I do. I trained as a SALT and we had to listen to ourselves quite often. Go to a voice coach.

I have a high-pitched voice and I ADORE very deep voices. There has been research on this. Apparently, the higher the woman's voice, the deeper the man's voice she prefers.
