Hi everyone, first post

I applied to a job a few weeks ago & was interviewed middle of last week. It was unique role that involved working on a shooting range.

I applied as I had the relevant previous administration & customer service experience the job advert stated they needed, it also said that it was fine to have no experience with weapons as they would fully train you up & pay for certificate etc.

Sounded interesting to me and certainly out of the norm! So I applied and got a call last Monday asking me in for an interview that week.

My interview (I felt) went really well, the guy who interviewed me was very friendly, joking around and professional in explaining and taking time to show me around and inform me about policies and each weapon. (They also do archery, crossbow etc there too).

The actual interview was over an hour and he stated I had great answers and he went into great detail about what he thought I could bring extra to the job role and how much of an asset I'd be with my previous experience. (Basically bigging me up which made me feel sure I'd get it!)

He said he'd get back to me regardless end of the week as he always rings people to let them know the outcome. He had 3 people overall that he interviewed for the role. (He told me this and said he'd had to go through a lot of CV's and only 3 were suitable!)

It's now Tuesday and I haven't heard anything? They're open till late on Sundays so I assumed end of the week would be Sunday last week.

I called yesterday just to check in and ask if I'd missed a call/ask for feedback as I hadn't heard back.
Receptionist said she'd pass my number on to the guy who interviewed me and get him to call me.

Still heard nothing..

@WeepingWillowWeepingWino Thank you! It's so hard to get a job around here😅 even waitressing roles want 3 years of experience! Currently doing my degree online and my OH is supporting us atm but I'd love to earn my own money.

Oh that's a shame. I agree the delay in getting back to you was possibly because they were waiting to see if the person offered the job accepted. Sounds like your interviewer was maybe a little too enthusiastic about how quickly they would reach a decision?

Don't be disheartened, it's great that you have recent interview experience. If they haven't given any feedback in the email you can email them back and ask for some - with a bit about how much you enjoyed meeting xxx and learning about their business and thanking them for considering you. A lot of businesses are very rude nowadays when recruiting - as most is done online it shouldn't' be impossible to acknowledge receipt and let you know if you have been unsuccessful (ie "We shall be interviewing w/c xxx so if you have not heard by this date we regret you have not been successful on this occasion")

Good luck with your applications. Remember to tailor every application to the job advertised, tweaking your CV if necessary.

@Someoneonlyyouknow Thank you, Yeah I do always tailor my CV & always include a covering letter too :)

@beansontoastz

Sorry, preaching to the converted.

I've done some recruitment and a horrifying number of people don't, possibly because they are under pressure to apply for so many jobs. When recruiters have lots of people to chose from they're simply not going to spend time sifting through CVs/applications for hidden nuggets of relevant information if they can form a shortlist for interview quickly and easily. Whatever the role, you want to feel that applicants want it enough to spend time reading the job description and person specification. It's time consuming though, so you have my sympathy.

That's a shame OP. I hate the way candidates are given feedback.
Good luck with your degree.
