My DD has a few congenital problems. They are very rare and even more rarely can sometimes be associated with a range of underlying disorders - but it's a needle in the haystack job to find the cause and so quite rightly I know that our GP wouldn't refer us for testing for anything and everything without clinical indication as we've already had a lot of essential tests and it would be invasive to keep taking blood, scanning etc
I've noticed for months that she sometimes seems to get tiny faint freckles only on her cheeks and occasionally forehead. They look like petechiae but I think they do fade under pressure. I can't find them anywhere else, and she doesn't seem to bruise particularly easily (she does have a little one on her head as she is a very active toddler and occasionally falls even though we are extra careful with her due to her condition)
Recently I think I've seen them far more but I don't know if it's because I am looking for them as nobody else really notices although agree they are there if I ask them to look. She does have pale sensitive skin so it could be irritation or just the result of shouting etc. They seem to come and go and fade within half hour or so. They aren't the dark blood petechiae I've seen on google, more like tiny little reddish freckles. It might even be from where her face presses into the floor when she rolls about.
I'm going to take her to GP but I think he will say it's quite normal. Obviously I'd be very happy with that but don't know whether to push for something like a blood count.
So, if any of you are at home with your babies and toddlers, please could you tell me if you ever notice any little facial freckles for reassurance while I await the appointment?! Thanks
