To want to get rid of Dcat?

Bloody creature. We love him dearly but the mice/voles/rabbits/birds he brings in...

Alive, squeaking, playing with them, then he lets them go. Generally in the middle of the night, with lots of noise and me faffing around to catch the damn things. There's one currently behind the kitchen cupboard and one under the sofa, both with handy chocolate-baited traps in close proximity. We live close to fields so unfortunately a never-ending supply.

He wears a collar with a bell but he is quite the Houdini and gets through at least one a week. We have an electronic microchip cat flap so we could lock him out at night but a) he'd howl all night and b) kids think it's cruel to leave him outside.

So AIBU to give the cat a new home?

I bought my cat a collar that let off an alarm every time he pounced. Cut the kills down by 50%.

You are supposed to lock the cat in at night not lock it out .

Did you miss the lighthearted bit out of your op? Otherwise don a hard hat OP. You're going to need it.

Can you send him to stay for a few days with the poster who has rats in her garden?
