Should we buy new saucepans?

I think we should. Our current ones are about 25 years old from M&S, cost about £70 for the set so I'm more than happy that we've had our money's worth from them. The bases of the pans have corroded leaving razor sharp edges on the bottom. Probably 25 years of being put through the dishwasher. I've tried to attach a picture.

We can very easily afford new pans, this is not a question of doing without something else in order to get them. DH is adamant that as they are still functional we should keep them and just file off the sharp edges. He thinks that buying new ones would be a waste of money.

So WIBU to buy new ones? He's so sure he's right that he told me to post this Grin

PS: Other people might want to handwash their pans but I say F that. If I'm charged with getting them clean I'm letting the machine do it.

I've got these vogue tri wall pans.

They're stainless all over, with no joins or seams, but they've got aluminium sandwiched between the steel for heat distribution, not just in the base but up the sides as well.

Had them for about 12yrs, the mirror finish is a bit scuffed from bashing them about but otherwise they're perfect.

I wouldn’t even discuss buying new saucepans with my DH. I would just purchase them

Cheap pans aren’t necessarily rubbish. I bought a huge casserole pan for 50p in a sale in 1978, and I still use it every week for batch cooking stews, curries, tagines, stifados, hotpots, whatever! It goes through the dishwasher and comes out pristine.
But I have finally splashed out on some new soup bowls. My 1980 Tesco ones are beginning to lose their looks after years of microwave exposure has damaged the glaze!

I love my Fissler pans. Hugely expensive but I enjoy them every day and I’m worth it. (I don’t have nice clothes or shoes though!)
