Sunday routine - AIBU to ask what's yours?

I really like the idea of having a Sunday routine to make the most of the day, too often I feel I'm wasting it on the sofa and before I know it it's 6pm and I've done nothing, does anyone have a routine to enjoy the lazy (or not so lazy) day?

Lazy morning in bed with a book/mn until around 10am.

Church at 11 then brunch (home or out).

Normally a walk in the afternoon or a film if the weather is rubbish.

Light dinner and Monday prep.

Up early to go for a walk, then shower. Quick mooch on mumsnet (check, check, check)
Bit of studying (got an essay to write but plenty of time)
Lunch later with my sons and granddaughter (they are cooking while I play shops, hairdressers or princesses)
Cinema
Sometimes housework, but try to get it out the way on Saturday as Sunday is my only me day.

Get up at 6am. Go to work for 2 hrs. Come home. Ironing. Might cook a proper Sunday roast depending on dd's sporting activities. Take dd to match. Do Aldi shop.
Come home. Might light the fire and watch a film depending on time and homework.
I wish we could be like normal people and read the papers, cook a roast, go to a National Trust place etc etc but both me and DH work odd hours so Sundays when we're all together are rare....and we can't afford membership to the NT!

I usually have a lie in till about 10, DH gets up with DD (my phone woke me making a silly noise this morning!) We have coffee until anyone can be bothered to move/gets hungry then have breakfast l, although one of us does get breakfast for DD when she wants it. The showers and sometimes visit my parents around 11.30 for a couple of hours, if we haven't seen them on the Saturday, home for a late lunch then hang about wondering if FIL is visiting or not! He uses to always visit 3-4pm every Sunday then he started sometimes not turning up or texting at 1 asking if we were in or 4 but not telling us beforehand and now we have no clue whether he will visit or not! So if it's a nice day, we've started just going out anyway, usually to the beach, river or woods for a walk. Then home for a roast dinner, early bath and hair wash, get DD's uniform ready and work clothes for the next day and try to get an early night. Today we have nobody to visit or have round as we've already seen my parents and FIL so we have a whole day to ourselves. We're having coffee just now, we'll go to the shops at some point and DD and I are going to make a cake this afternoon.

I hate Sunday. It’s seeing to the animals, tidying, cleaning and ironing every bloody week.

ipswichwitch · 07/04/2019 10:18

Every other Sunday we go swimming in the morning. Did that last Sunday, and today we had planned to go to the local farm but is raining so that’s off the cards. Thought about soft play but frankly none of us can be arsed (busy day yesterday) so currently DS2 is watching back to back Scooby doo, while DS1 is messing about with playmobil.

Most sundays I go to Tesco/Lidl for food for the week ahead, so I get something easy for dinner (today it’ll be a cooked chicken). Hoping DH will take the DC to see his sister while I go through the wardrobes and have a sort out.

Grosserygangrule · 07/04/2019 10:26

Sunday’s are chill days here, Saturday will make the effort to go out so Sunday is usually a film in the morning whilst I clean, washing etc. Then if ds has no parties on either visit family, or friends or just a day at home, Colouring or reading etc.

I get up when the youngest does! Usually around 7.30/8am..
I do a workout for around an hour then we usually go out for lunch and swimming.
Later a dog walk in the woods somewhere..
We make tea and once ids are in bed its Netflix and wine time for us!!!
In between we do jobs round the house/garden and any spare time is usually spent playing Lego with our 4yr old!!
I am the kind of person who has to be doing something-lazy days on the sofa are not for me.(I know I drive my Partner mad with this, He would probably love to spend weekends at home doing not a lot)

crosser62 · 07/04/2019 10:38

Every week it’s different but loosely around a routine.
I put on 2 or 3 washes, clean, tidy, do the ironing.
Something into the slow cooker for tea.
Have the tv on in the background while pottering.
Go to bed for a couple of hours in the afternoon as I work night shift Sunday night, but that is not always possible sadly.
I like the place clean and tidy, all washing and ironing done for the week ahead as I work very long hours so don’t have time to do much in the week apart from titivate.
Kids do different things with dh each weekend so they are busy.

troppibambini · 07/04/2019 10:40

I have four dc so my Sundays will look very different to yours, it's the only day we don't have routine though. Dh does usually take them to see his dad for a bit though.
If I was child free I would
Have a lie in
Some form of exercise or a walk with the dog
Either go in Manchester shopping and for a nice lunch
Or go to a country pub for a roast and a snooze on the sofa after
Organise a nice brunch with friends maybe
Cinema we have an Everyman in our town which has nice food and wine

Or just do nothing! Box set or a good book.

Thank you for the suggestions and very interesting to read what others do!

Having a bit of a pity party for myself this morning (see my other thread😅) but usually on a Sunday...

-Clean & get food in.
-Nice dog walk with DP.
-Sex (at some point)
-Coffee & nice breakfast in bed.
-Watch movies in the evening & have a nice long shower.

In the summer it's even better as we live right next to the beach so I can go swimming/kayaking at like 8am when it's totally quiet and gorgeous outside.😍 Then sunbathe the rest of the dayWink (I'm in England btw and our summer last year was incredible!)
