To be shocked at the rise in my Tesco's home insurance?

Just found out that my Tesco's home insurance has risen by 384% Shock

We have made no claim on it whatsoever, low crime rates, etc.

Guy on the phone has no idea why it has risen so much, but there has been no mistake apparently.

Needless to say, I will be looking elsewhere. Any recommendations, please?

Have you tried M&S OP. They are who I use in the UK for buildings and contents, and my home is period stone built. never had any issues.

Huh, just checked mine and its over 300pa if you add it up (I pay monthly). Its all as was when the mortgage advisor person set it all up. On compare the market, Admiral have quoted 129. I'm going to get my policy out and compare the policies and switch. Been meaning to for ages.

One year I rang Directline in a similar situation, having just gotten a NEW quote for equivalent (and better for some details) cover from, yes you have guessed it, Direct Line! Operator agreed that it was a conundrum, cancelled the old policy and re-signed me up with a new policy, which was perfectly acceptable to them.
I usually swap every year (been with Admiral and Aviva since), and remember that some of the bigger providers are not on the comparison sites.

I switch everything, every year, and generally between Aviva and Direct Line. It is a PITA, and they always accept this is just the way it is, it is such a waste of time. They both put their premiums up every year, but switch between the two and they always then quote a cheaper price than the previous year in which they quoted. Another trick is just switching names between DH and me, you always get a new customer price even though on the same house.

On the car front I just switched DD from Aviva to Direct line and saved £500 for her, and £100 for each of DH and myself and with lower excesses. It makes no sense.
