Celebs who don’t leave cheating partners

Soundsgoodtome · 04/04/2019 10:56

Do you think it’s unusual that partners of cheating celebs stay with them .. even when they know that the cheating has happened and is public knowledge and they are celebs in their own right, either by their work or by association . I find it hard to understand . I can only think of una Healy off hand who left her husband immediately when she learned of his infidelity . I know that for a lot of us , money and children , are a reason to stay but for some , there are no children involved and money is not an issue ?

To me it’s just sex, there are far worse things mine could do.

Hollowvictory · 04/04/2019 13:33

Tess Daly, why oh why would she stay with thicko serial cheat Vernon Kaye?

NotAChanceOfQuiet · 04/04/2019 13:57

Their relationship, their business. I don't judge if my friends decide to stay with their partners (which has happened) or if they decide to leave them (more common)

BronteAusten · 04/04/2019 14:21

can someone explain the Beckham thing? I thought they were supposed to be a happy family?

happyhillock · 04/04/2019 14:29

Beckham had an affair years back with his PA Rebecca Loos, he tried to deny it, Rebecca said a few thing's about Beckham that only someone who'd had an affair with would know

MissionItsPossible · 04/04/2019 14:36

@crosspelican

You need to create an AMA thread!

People staying with partners who cheat I don't really understand but it's none of my business but I do judge when people stay in relationships or marriages after their partner has been exposed as a paedophile. I just think 'how could you?' (I don't know anyone personally in this situation, I mean when I see it in/on the news)

SrSteveOskowski · 04/04/2019 14:41

Coleen Rooney is a doormat. Wayne cheats, she 'forgives' him and they go on another foreign holiday. Most of the time she announces a pregnancy shortly afterwards.
I think the worst thing of all though is the example she's giving her sons. Men can lie and chest and it's absolutely fine and normal to do that because naturally the woman will always forgive them, again and again and again. Not one of them is going to grow up with any respect for women.

I think Una Healy is a strong lady. When she found out her ex husband was cheating, then that was it. He was gone and no second chances. She wasn't going to let herself be made a fool of and more importantly, she wasn't going to let her children grow up thinking that it was okay.
Ben Foden is a complete shit anyway. That was plain to see when he went off to America. Whatever happened between him and Una, no decent father would move away to another country, another continent even, and just leave his kids so easily. He obviously doesn't care too much about them. He's hardly flying home regularly to visit them.
Una's children will have a good upbringing with her and her family in Ireland.

Moral of the story? Be an Una Healy not a Coleen Rooney.

sundowners · 04/04/2019 14:44

Agreed. One that sticks in my mind is Mark Owen- admitting cheating at least 10 different times, including an affair with a woman for 3 YEARS who he flew out to see him around the world. He'd already had kids with now wife. Called the "other woman" to meet up on the way back from hospital after his kid had just been born... yet his wife takes him back. No way could I ever trust again after this level of betrayal horrendous.

happyhillock · 04/04/2019 14:50

Coleen Rooney certainly wouldn't end up back on a council estate, if she left Wayne she would get a fortune in a divorce settlement, she doesn't want that she likes being Mrs Wayne Rooney, same goes for Victoria Beckham, they dont want to leave to let there husband's run around with other women, do they really love there husband's? I'd fame play's a big part.

StillTogether · 04/04/2019 15:00

As PP say, it’s more common to stay together after infidelity than to part.

I had a very brief affair years ago. DH forgave me, we had counselling and we’ve moved on. I would never, ever do it again. The fallout from my behaviour was huge and painful for too many people to ever justify temptation or any potential thrill.

DH, on the other hand, wouldn’t have an affair or a ONS. That’s not to say he’s perfect, he isn’t. He has done things in our relationship which were just as harmful as my contribution. Two wrongs don’t make a right but we worked through our problems and have a long, largely successful marriage to show for it. We are fallible humans trying to navigate life, celebrities are the same. They aren’t immune to humanity.

Bowchicawowow · 04/04/2019 15:35

It's horrible to describe any woman as 'a doormat.'

Alsohuman · 04/04/2019 15:56

It's bloody awful to describe a woman as a doormat because she doesn't share your views. I'm no doormat but I wouldn't give up my 20 year marriage for an indiscretion either.

SrSteveOskowski · 04/04/2019 16:14

But she is a doormat. Wayne can walk all over her because she lets him, an he hadn't had 'an' indiscretion. He's had more than most people have had hot dinners.

As a previous poster said, Coleen wouldn't exactly end up on a council estate and struggling if she left Wayne. Her children would respect her more too.

dustarr73 · 04/04/2019 16:19

Colleen is in a very difficult place. She should have walked the 2nd time.I think anyone can have a slip. But the amount of crap she must go through is awful for her.

I remember when Jerry Hall finally had enough of Mich Jagger,he moved in next door.He didnt like her leaving him.

Constantly cheating wouldnt stand for,but a once off anyone can make a mistake,

Alsohuman · 04/04/2019 16:52

No, you think she's a doormat because she's not behaving as you think she should. Maybe infidelity isn't a big deal for her.

RasberryRoyale · 04/04/2019 17:09

Wayne has been cheating on Coleen for years- wasn’t the prostitute incident before they got married and had kids? I don’t think you can bale religion on that. She must really love him. And their life style. I think they are setting a bad example to their four sons.

With celebs I imagine a lot of the reasons the couple stays together if not for their relationship it’s because they are stronger together than apart or it would hurt their brand to part ala the Beckhams.

I find it hard to have sympathy though when it’s repeatedly an issue and the celeb is papped “looking sad” and sells their story, only to go on holiday again Only for it to happen again months later. I’ll save my sympathy for ordinary women who don’t have access to millions in the bank and can’t walk away from their cheating spouses quite so easily especially when there are children involved.

RasberryRoyale · 04/04/2019 17:10

*bale is blame.

Sallycinammonbangsthedruminthe · 04/04/2019 17:11

I think out of the two of them Colleen is one smart cookie....she stays ..she has a lovely life style and wants for nothing,,,I do not think she wants Wayne and I am sure she knows and expects him to stray but the beauty of this is she looks blameless. My only critisism of their relationship is that she gives him too much credit not to get caught ...he is too thick for discretion.I bet they are like brother and sister more than man and wife,,,bet she doesnt care in the least about his wandering libedo...better him leering over some old granny than her....I could cope with that...Colleen,if she is half the woman I think she is will not be suffering at all.I dont think she is weak for staying at all...

happyhillock · 04/04/2019 17:19

A woman has no respect for herself if she stay's with husband/partner after he has an affair, as for coleen rooney she has allowed wayne to humilate her on more than one occasion doormat or not she's where she want's to be, don't think many women feel sorry for her,

Missillusioned · 04/04/2019 17:21

Colleen Rooney is a Roman Catholic from an area of Liverpool that has a very strong Catholic culture. It is still the case for people from such backgrounds that marriage is for life no matter what. It wouldn't be easy for her to leave her marriage, she would likely get very little emotional support from family or friends.

It's not just the religious aspect, it's the culture that comes with it.

happyhillock · 04/04/2019 17:27

Brother and sister? They have 4 children! No Coleen likes being Mrs Wayne Rooney, i don't feel sorry for her, her life

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 04/04/2019 17:33

I think someone like CR doesn't want to get divorced, have her husband go on to marry again and have a bunch more kids, thus sidelining her DC and cutting down their share of the money. This way, she is in control and there are limits to the damage he can do. She's protecting her position, that's all.
She is probably deeply embarrassed by his utter lack of discretion.

IcedPurple · 04/04/2019 17:41

It always makes me laugh when people say a couple won't divorce because they're Catholics. I'm pretty sure the Catholic church also forbids infidelity, but Wayne clearly has no problem with that.

And I know quite a few Scousers who are divorced. I doubt divorce rates there are much different from elsewhere in the country.

Cuddlysnowleopard · 04/04/2019 17:43

I always wonder about the Mumsnet view on this - in real life, cheating/open relationships/turning a blind eye is very common, so who knows what goes in other people's marriages.

You simply cannot judge others by your own standards when you don't know where they have put their own red lines. Snogging someone wouldn't be an issue in my marriage, for example, and I am very happily married.

Missillusioned · 04/04/2019 17:48

@IcedPurple it's not a religious thing really, but the Catholic Church does have form for ignoring male indiscretion, while holding women to a higher standard. And infidelities are not considered as bad as divorce.

It isn't all scousers by any means, but a particular section of the working class Catholic community. It's changing slowly.
