My lo has just received her 8 weeks immunisations including the ritovirus and the new to me men B. Has anyone lo’s Had these and how were they after. My lo was 5 weeks premature. I can already notice she’s struggling with her belly.

Hi, my little one was very tired at first sleotmfor about 3 hours after the injections and first dose of calpol ... then he screamed and screamed and screamed ... only calmed once 2nd dose of calpol kicked in ...

He was feeling poorly ... he was not in a great place for about 3 days ( sadly said only to give 3 doses of calpol and then only more if got a temperature )

But he came through ok, done the 4 month ones now ... thank god it’s all done until he is 1

How is your little one struggling with belly? X x

YouBoggleMyMind · 02/04/2019 20:47

Nappies were a bit lose due to rota virus and it being a live virus and men b can give a fever but can be managed with calpol. Rota may take a few days to go through but men b less (in my experience).

Loose*

DeadDoorpost · 02/04/2019 20:49

DS slept for a few hours after I gave him calpol, then his legs were sore for 24 hours. Any pressure on or near the jabs made him cry. After the 24 hours he was totally fine.

Also, a few extra nappies. I remember them being rather more explosive than usual.

Thegirlhasnoname · 02/04/2019 20:52

The men B gave her a fever after each dose and the rotavirus gave her an upset tummy for about 24 hours (also made her nappies smell stupidly sour for a while but might just be coincidence). Only thing that lasted longer than the 24 hours was a small lump at one of the injection sites but didn’t seem to hurt her at all

mrsed1987 · 02/04/2019 20:53

Bit of a temp and a very loose nappy for a couple of days but otherwise was fine

Sianyjenks · 02/04/2019 20:55

That seems to be exactly what has happened with my little one. Calpol has just settled her. We struggle with the soiled nappy department anyways but I am hoping she can pass the rotovirus through quickly. I know I only have one more dose of calpol left to give her. Just hope this is enough 🙁

Fingers crossed, head to bed yourself now and sleep when ever she does keep
Your energy up, if you breast feed offer the boob( I was just about due to lack of milk production ) dual feeding back then ... so ended up putting him on the boob and using Mumsnet in the day / or rocking him whatever comforted him, sucking us meant to be a natural pain relief .. dummy wod have similar effect x x

Sianyjenks · 02/04/2019 21:13

She’s on hipp combiotic as she was preterm I wasn’t producing enough to meet neonatal feeding plan. She’s settled now. Fingers crossed 🤞 thanks for advice x

We had a green poo the next day and that was the first time he slept through the night, he didn't cry other than when they were first done. I kept waking up and checking his breathing, but he was right as rain the next day and went back to multiple night wakings. The second one was fine didn't even need Calpol, no men B. Next lot are next week.

Treaclesweet · 03/04/2019 00:38

You can continue to give Calpol after the three doses if you feel she needs it? Or do you mean you have run out? My ds is noticeably poorly after his for a couple of days, high temperature and very upset. Good luck with her Flowers

Rtmhwales · 03/04/2019 00:41

Mine had them, no issue. He was born just over eight weeks premature at 31+6. Had the vaccinations on his due date actually. No problems whatsoever.

KellyW88 · 03/04/2019 01:05

My twins were 2 months premature and so, spent a long time in NICU (4 months) they had their 8 week vaccinations in Hospital. DS was really out of sorts for a few days, loose pops for the first couple of days, spitting up more than usual and feverish, DD took about two days to recover her energy but no other symptoms. I had nurses around 24/7 and it still didn’t stop me worrying but they both came through fine and little to no negative reactions to their subsequent vaccinations :)

If your DD has loose poops just keep offering top up feeds (without exhausting yourself) and if you get worried about feeding don’t hesitate to call your HV or GP. If in pain because of gas Infacol can help, but of course I’d suggest you seek advice from your HV before giving this.

Hope she stays settled OP and get yourself some rest when you can xx

Sianyjenks · 03/04/2019 03:20

Thanks everyone for your advice it’s good to know that the rest aren’t like this either.
I do have more calpol but wasn’t sure if I could continue after the three doses were given?
My first daughter was 8 weeks premature too ( not sure why I can’t carry full term) I remember her having issues with rotavirus too. But they’ve changed again since then. The menB seems to be the new one.
I’m hoping that we have a few explosive nappies to get the virus through her system but like I mentioned previously we have a few issues in that department where the best way she goes is nappy off and legs up. Cool boiled water in between feeds, bless her.

Sorry what is the cooled boiled water for? I think I am misunderstanding you!

Nurse said at my vacs that it was fine to continue giving Calpol until baby seemed ok (max 2 days I think). The doses they tell you about are the compulsory ones IYSWIM.

There's an information leaflet here

www.gov.uk/government/publications/menb-vaccine-and-paracetamol

WoahThereMama · 03/04/2019 10:45

Why are you giving cooled boiled water in between feeds? No wonder her stools are loose! Or have I completely misunderstood something?

Sianyjenks · 03/04/2019 10:55

We were advised on the cool boiled water by the HV in between feeds to help her go. She doesn’t have loose stools she has the opposite. We have enough calpol so will use more thanks for the link.

WoahThereMama · 03/04/2019 11:05

Sorry - I did misunderstand! I thought the rotovirus had given her diarrhoea. Hope she starts to feel more like herself again soon.

CustardCreamLover · 03/04/2019 11:14

Mine was also 5 weeks premature and was just very sleepy after both. No problems at injection site and his nappies are always pretty loose and smelly anyway so didn't make much difference. Hope your LO feels better soon!
