I probably am BU but bloody hell, so far this academic year I’ve paid out £70 for my two DC to attend four PTA events (two of them discos). There has also been several mufti days and a sponsored event at the end of the summer term. Does this seem a bit much? I’ve never paid out this much in previous years.

I stand by my position that many PTA members are self important people whose time would be better spent campaigning for all children’s education to be properly funded rather than a single new climbing frame

I do both as do most on my Pta committee!

I've provided toothbrushes for my child's nursery (attached to a school) because every penny should be spent on education, not gluesticks and toothbrushes.
Equally, any of my child's outgrown clothes or shoes, I offer to them. In case of accidents or poverty.

I honestly don’t think my eyes could roll any further back in my head 😂😂😂

But as you’ve acknowledged, people who know you personally feel the same way 😂😂😂😂😂😂

SwappitySwap honestly, please don’t be put off joining. If you’re passionate about your children’s education then the best thing you can do is make their school experience as rewarding as possible - and joining the PTA and bringing new ideas, and pushing for better resources and writing to your MP are just a few things that will make a massive difference.

I don't get people who moan about schools not being properly funded and then also moan about the pta raising money.

In an ideal world yes schools would get more money but without big tax hikes that doesn't seem likely anytime soon.

So what do parents do? make a stand and refuse to participate in fund raising events ( even if they can afford it,).

without the additional pta funded events at our school it would be pretty boring and none of the enrichments activities would take place.
But don't worry kids 'we're taking a stand'

Tbh people who can afford to contribute but choose not to piss me off far more than some parents trying to improve the school for everybody else's child including their own.
