22 mile drive (each way).

Is this too much? Some people are telling me not to think about it, as it would wear my car out quickly. I currently drive 15 miles (30 mile round trip) a day.

22 miles is nothing! I cant believe anyone would even question it. I drive a 12 mile round trip to take my kids to school, my eldest travels 18 miles by bus to college

I do 45 miles each way, part of which is me sat on the M25 for at least 45 mins

It totally depends on where you live. For me I wouldn't commute further than 5 miles as the road network near me is so bad. The 3 major motorways are continually in accidents or roadworks that the diverts around or through the 2 cities or 3 towns within 10 miles of me can be at gridlock.

It won’t wear your car out so judge it based on how long it will take you. My concerns would be if it’s a stressful drive through city centres, if there’s likely to be tons of traffic and if parking is a problem. The number of miles are (within reason) irrelevant.

30 miles each way but dual carriageway and fairly rural at 0630 or 1830 so 30-35 mins and not every day.

Unless you live on the Isle of Man. In which case, according to my Manx friend, anything over 20 miles needs an overnight stay

Ha ha. Very true. I visit the island a few times a year and the airport is in the south and I have a work client in the north of the island, about 25 miles away.

The woman at the hire car desk always says 'oh I haven’t been all that way up for years' and it's clear she thinks I'm doing a huge expedition and she always apologises because hire company policy is to put enough petrol in the car to drive to Douglas and back and she always warns me to put more petrol in the car on the way out of the airport as I'm going such a long way and it's so remote.
