Of pregnancy!

I am literally at despair. I have 5 weeks until my due date.

The acid reflux that I'm experiencing is horrendous, like nothing before. It's keeping me up at night so that I'm barely getting any sleep. I've tried Gaviscon, Rennies and otc Ranitidine. It's just not working! Sad

Also needing a wee every 30-60 minutes. Grrr.

I've tried everything to make myself feel better and nothing's working.

Please MNers share your tips with me and tell me it will get better eventually

Honestly you need to get some Nexium ASAP! I've been taking it daily since early second trimester for my horrible heartburn and it's a life changer. I don't even have the slightest hint of heartburn now.

Butteredghost · 01/04/2019 04:17

I didn't cope I'm afraid! I didn't cope daily but despite me not coping time still passed by and eventually baby was here. That's the best way I can explain it. So sorry no tips from me.

My only tip is dont worry when people say things like "oh you think you are tired now, wait til the baby is here etc". To me it was much less tiring. One hour of sleep? That's bliss compared to bring pregnant when you can't even get one minute of sleep.

I’ve got a 2 week old baby and had the worse heartburn for most of the 3 rd trimester along with terrible sleeping etc. I drank probably a pint of milk a day if not more and was even sent to day assessment at one midwife appointment as heartburn and other issues were suspected to be pre eclampsia.

However, as soon as baby was born everything went and I’ve not felt like drinking one glass of milk since... and I think I sleep more now!!

Good luck for the next few weeks.

Definitely try omeprazole from your GP. It takes a few days to work, but is a fabulous cure (I was swigging Gaviscon by that point).

If it’s your first baby, definitely try to nap in the day when you can or go to bed early. It sounds a cliche, but I’m awake with both a toddler and baby now and dream of sleep 😭

The last month of pregnancy is such a challenge as it lasts for what feels like 473 days!! You’re nearly there!!

Greenlegobox · 01/04/2019 05:16

I agree, if the ranitidine isn't cutting it you need a GP. I'm awake because I got the whooping cough vaccine and my arm is so sore I can't sleep.

Pocket0219 · 01/04/2019 05:47

@mcjx - Call up your GP and say you're pregnant and suffering from bad acid reflux/heart burn. Over the phone they prescribed me with Omeprazole. 20mg a day and it went. I wish I'd done it earlier!!

BunsOfAnarchy · 01/04/2019 05:56

Omeprazole.
Lots of ice crunching.
Gu zillionaire cheesecake.
I hope this helps!xx

10 days till my due date here. Could be up to 24 days if very overdue! Sad
I pretty much want to cry everyday, i am so fed up.
Awful SPD, heartburn, so itchy, back ache and horrible dreams about stillbirth Sad
I'm so incredibly paranoid that something's going to go wrong and he's not going to arrive here safely. I think I could put up with the other stuff, if it wasn't for the constant worry!
On the plus side, I'll definitely be having my baby this month GrinGrin
And I'm pretty sure I started losing my mucous plug yesterday, although labour could still be weeks away, i think we're heading in the right direction.
I half thought I was in labour yesterday, really bad braxton hicks with back and tummy pain, but none of them woke me up last night so perhaps not! Grin
Can't wait till he's here!

Milk can make it worse, in the immediate instance it feels better but your stomach can then try to balance the milk out by increasing acid (or so I’ve read) I have reflux disease and had major surgery in the end to stop it so some experience to back this up. Water is better as it dilutes the acid a bit. I found this to be true, I hope it might help a little.

I hope you all feel better, my misery pregnancy inducers are now late teens/ adult (Christ I feel old) and I still remember those last few weeks!
