To leave my suitcase to be unpacked tomorrow

My dh is literally doing my head in.
We’ve got back from the airport an hour ago after an intense week of coaching my dd at a week long competition.
My dh is literally running around like a headless chicken demanding I separate what I need to wash etc. Sure I have work tomorrow but I planned for that and don’t need to unpack our unfortunately shared case.
I’ve separated all of his stuff and left mine in the case and said I’m going to shut the case and sort it tomorrow. I will definitely sort tomorrow and do the washing but nooooo apparently I have to sort it now because I’m being a slob. Piss off dh.

Sorry for long post. I don’t even care if aibu I just need to sound this out from the peace of my blanket and sofa...

I am never in too much of a rush to unpack.
However, my dirty washing goes into a plastic bag before it goes in the case. So it takes about 2 seconds to open case, lift out plastic bag and decant it into the laundry basket.

I usually fish dirty washing out of the case on return and then leave it half full of the other stuff for ages.

Hope you took out anything damp or very smelly but nothing else cannot wait.

I can't leave a case lurking unpacked. I have to empty it and start the post-trip washing and put the case away otherwise it drives me mad.

Soontobe60 · 01/04/2019 08:55

I'm of the unpack it straight away mentality. In fact, I always try to get the laundry done whilst on holiday so I bring back mostly clean clothes 🤣🤣. We did a road trip through California one year, and I just loved that every motel and hotel had free laundry facilities!
The greatest invention I now use are packing cubes. Just take out the dirty laundry cubes downstairs, cases upstairs and put the cubes in the right bedrooms.
I have a bag with all toiletries in which stays in the cases ready for next time, and one with chargers, plug adaptors, headphones, flight pillow thingy all of which stay in the cases.

As someone who went away for 2-3 days every week for 7 months I always put everything in the wash as soon as I get home, it’s less painful than delaying. Saying that, I would wash it, I didn’t expect my partner to do it for me, and as the trips were his ‘work’ I would do his as well as he would be more knackered than me.

I hate unpacked suitcases! They hugely irritate me 😂

DH still has his wedding suit in a suitcase from when we got married seven months ago! I made him hide it in a wardrobe so it wouldn't annoy me Blush

Depends of you’re my DP. His “definitely tomorrow” can easily mean things are left for up to 2 weeks. He has been “mowing the lawn tomorrow” for a month. I’ve organised a local teen to do it for a small amount of cash.

Oh Mumsnet told me this didn’t post. Clearly it did. We ended up having an almighty row so the neighbours at least knew we were back Grin
