18 months ago I was a fat, dumpy 47 year old going into her first ever adult swimming lesson, unable to swim a stroke.

Today i’m Still a fat dumpy 48 year old who swum 100 25 metre lengths this afternoon in the Swimathon, raising around £400 in sponsorship money.

Tonight when my husband and children take me out for dinner, for once i’ll Feel I actually deserve my wine.

I did the same as a fit and healthy 12 year old and I'm pretty sure I took longer than 90 minutes. I WAS KNACKERED, there is no way I could do it now. You should be so proud of yourself, that is an amazing achievement.

Well done! Amazing achievement! I'd like to do something like this next year. 😁 I am 47 too & although I can do the breast stroke, I don't (or didn't use to) put my head under water. After years of putting myself second, and juggling full time job & ferrying my daughter to after school activities, I decided to take the plunge too. I enrolled on a swimming course too in January. Although getting a very bad flu did slow me down as I missed 3 weeks, I have made good progress already & try to go additional days with my daughter too. I am looking forward to the summer.
