Ruislip Lido on Mother's Day, is this a terrible idea?

Just as the title says really....

DS has been pestering the shit life out of me to go to the beach, really don't want to drive 2+ hours on Mother's Day to nearest beach.

Is Ruislip Lido any good and will it be rammed on Mother's Day?

TIA

But,unless it's drastically improved since I last went there

It has. It's had millions spent to transform it. There's now another bigger car park plus the original one and the restaurant one, a great café, a superb play area by the beach with a fun waterpark, all free (you pay for parking if you don't live in L.B. Hillingdon, £3.50).
Ruislip woods is the largest green space solely inside the M25. If you are there at dusk, it has a healthy population of daubenton bats that you can watch swapping across the surface of the lake eating insects.

The little train still runs. It's a brilliant place. And the beach is quite large. Dogs have their own beach!

Any honeypot will be horrible on Mother's Day.

Although it will be even worse in the Easter holidays. Maybe go on an INSET day?

I live locally and avoid that place like the plague 🤢

I wouldn't mind it for mother's day ,but I quite enjoy it.

DD plays in the sand,in the play park things, dips her toes in the water(they haven't fallen off). The food at the cafe is not great ,but not completely awful either. We enjoy the ice cream in the sun, then take the little train(DD loves it) back. I mean it's pretty basic or even horrible for some, but definitely not a bad free day out(except food and parking) especially if the sun is shining.

The beach part looks much bigger than I expected.
Thanks for sharing those pictures.
