Husband thinks I'm strange for being on my phone when drinking an afternoon cuppa

Just that really. Sat down for an afternoon coffee in the living room and started reading through Facebook. Husband said I'm odd for not turning the tv on at least. What do you think Grin

I absolutely hate background noise. I don’t even play music in the house. And I don’t have any live tv so only switch the tv on if I want to watch a specific programme on Netflix. My afternoon break (I work from home) is always a cup of tea and a quick scroll through my phone. Or I read a book. Not weird at all OP! (Not in my opinion anyway Grin)

Must be a Husband thing, I watch what I want to watch, he will have it on all the time, is glued to it. That's how its designed hypnotic effect! Yes, he will also come in when I am watching something (says everything I watch is a load of rubbish) We do watch University Challenge together, I love it when I can answer a question the teams cannot, (doesn't happen too often mind!)

I don't really watch tv apart from an occasional Netflix binge.

Last time I babysat my friend's children I took a book with me to read in peace once the children were asleep. My friend (who is a real telly addict), when she returned came in looked horrified and asked if the TV was broken Grin

I don't think you're strange at all. We only put the TV on if we want to watch something specific - I've never used it for background noise but I know some do.

@ApplePieIsAmazing my DP does the same, he will come into a room and turn the telly on and be working on his laptop, says he can't stand quiet rooms and needs the background noise?! He'll even do it if I'm the room reading a book or something and then walk out leaving it on - I'll then turn it off!
